Wedding? Don't you mean a trip to Newton Abbott racecourse.:ninja:

No Alf, they couldn't get a referee to inspect the pitch and didn't know your contact details to ask you to do it as you seem to be the pitch expert. Lol, maybe time to wind your neck in. You're getting as bad as Sijames.

Ok - but it states earlier in this thread that this was cancelled 2 weeks ago due to a wedding. Is that not a legit reason to cancel a game without being penalised?

The game wasn’t cancelled two weeks ago.

Just to clarify...

Penryn Athletic put a formal request into the league more than two weeks ago to postpone this fixture due to a wedding that some of the team were due to attend.

This request went to committee and the outcome was that the game could not be postponed on those grounds. Therefore, the match was to be played or forefeited.

We gave Penryn the chance to get a team together, however we were informed this morning that only 8 players were available for the fixture, therefore Penryn regrettably forefeited the game.

The game, in accordance with Trelawny League Rules has been awarded to Wendron United Reserves.

24 minutes ago, Sijames said:

Surly if Penryn couldn't raise a side, they be deducted 3 points and Wendron wouldn't receive any? As previously happened in this and combo league this season?

That hasn’t happened at all this season in The Trelawny League.

When a team is unable to raise a side on the first occasion, they forfeit the game to their opponents.

When they are unable to raise a team for a second time, they forfeit the game to the opponents and are also docked three points.

Any more offences of this nature, the club are deducted 6/9/12 points and again, the games awarded to the opponents.

League Rule 10 f

Clubs giving more than 7 days’ notice that they are unable to fulfil a fixture shall provide written reasons to the Competition justifying the inability to fulfil the fixture. Only in exceptional and substantiated circumstances will permission to postpone the fixture be granted. Should permission to postpone a fixture not be granted and the game still does not take place the penalties as for Note 2 below shall be applied in accordance with the Fines Tariff.

2. Clubs giving less than 7 days’ notice that they are unable to fulfil a fixture shall forfeit the match to their opponents and be otherwise penalised in accordance with the fines tariff. Should neither club be able to fulfil the fixture it shall be declared void and the penalties in the Fines Tariff shall be applied to both teams.

Top of the table clash in Div 2, Probus 1-1 Newlyn Lions.

Newlyn took the lead in the 1st half the goal starting from their own goal kick with the wind behind them. 1st half ending 0-1.

2nd half different story, Probus on top for the vast majority with a lot of good chances not being taken. Equalised eventually from a corner, strong header from Pete Davey. Newlyn had 1 sniff a corner cleared off the line well by Aidan Richards.

Overall Probus will count themselves the more unlucky of the 2 teams with the amount of missed chances, definitely edging it over 90mins. But overall not a bad result for either team, Probus still unbeaten in the league.

Well refereed and well and fairly battled throughout by both teams, although it would have been nice to have seen a few Newlyn boys after the game for food and a pint, despite the long journey back.

Penzance Reserves 4 Probus Reserves 0

Penzance deserved the win and could have scored a lot more than 4, but we could have scored a few at the other end. We weren't helped with the early kick off and really busy traffic - it took some of the team over an hour and a half to get to the ground! This resulted us not having a warm up and having to change 3 of the starting 11 as they weren't there when the team was named.

Penzance started quickly and we were 3-0 down early in the game. We improved towards the end of the half and the PZ keeper made a good save in a one on one.

The second half was more of the same with us being too open at the back. PZ scored their 4th from a quick break from our throw near their corner flag.

We didn't have a good game today and Penzance were quicker all over the pitch, but with our oldest player being 20, and the majority 16, there is hope for the future! PZ have a good mix of youth and experience, which we didn't have today, as all of our older players were unavailable. Hopefully in a few weeks time, in the return fixture, we will be able to give a better account of ourselves. The game was well refereed.

Division 3

Frogpool Reserves 3-1 Rosudgeon Reserves

A lovely clipped ball from Mark Fuller sent Aaron Coveney to equalise for the Frogs after going a goal down.

Jack Froud and Harry Payne both converted penalties to give us our 15th win in the league.

Man of the Match: Tom Hills

Ludgvan Reserves 3-4 St Just (HT 3-1)

Great comeback from the lads who wanted it more on the day and won the battle in the middle of the park. Gave away 2 silly penalties first half but thought we were the better team, despite the deficit and Ludgvan missing a couple of easy chances.

Second half we scored 3 in the first 10 minutes and held on to get all 3 points. Great goals by Tony Angwin and Luke May, but our overall performance did homage to Jesus on this most holy of weekends - we were dead and buried but rose again.

Thanks to Ludgvan for the hospitality and food afterwards ???

Think you'd find if you reread, it wasn't a moan, purely pointed out it would have been nice to have had a pint and some food with your lads after the game.

They could have played with 8. Was it last season that Troon played at Hayle with 7?

They could have - you need a minimum of seven players to start a match. I think it depends on the sort of team you have - you have to expect a hefty defeat if you give another team a rather large advantage like that.

Yeah, it definitely happened last season - it earnt Troon (I think) a lot of respect, the scoreline wasn’t even that bad.

I've been with the lions since the club started and whether it's a long journey or bad result we always make an effort to go back to the away teams pub. It's just respect if not anything else. I think in the 3-4 years that we've been battling in the league against you I have seen 2 people from probus come back to our place for a drink after the game (and they didn't look like players) either supporters or coach. Yet the 1st time we were unable to come back to your place, you put it up on the forum ?? not sure how long you've been with probus as we always seem to see different faces ?? depending on the circumstances ?? but we are 1 team with the same players week in week out and love having a pint together, after the game, if we can.

Div 2

Redruth 1 Gwinear Churchtown 2

Another bottom of the table clash for us. Had to win!!

Went 1-0 up after 5 minutes with Corri putting billy foster through and a clinically finish put us ahead. We then created a lot of chances but couldn’t put them away.

Redruth capatalised on our misses, with a corner poorly cleared twice by us which resulted in redruth scoring.

We were pretty poor all of the first half which was frustrating after our win last week.

H-T 1-1

Second half after a bit of a grilling from me and Damo we turned it around and played a lot better. Was a good battle with quite a lot of chances for either side. Took a bit of magic from Sam Charlton who picked up the ball and smashed it into the top corner from 35 yards in the dying minutes.

Great result for us, and we go into fourlanes away on Wednesday, another bottom of table clash. Also a great debut for Charlie Shears at the back.

Spot on with this. I believe I was PZ oldest player yesterday at 29 lol 80% of our team are 18 or below. We only had 3 of us over 20. We were missing 4 key players yesterday as well so had to juggle things around. Good game to be involved in. No dirty tacklesand Probus kept plugging away until the end. The return fixture should be a good one
