They put 4/5 in against us the other week-made a difference. But it’s no different to us using our cup game against tavi the other week to give 4/5 of our first team some match fitness etc. Second teams should be used as second teams. If the club is one club and runnas one club second team players need to understand they may miss out occasionally.

What if parkway were in the semi final of the vase (representing the south west you might say) and hadn’t played for 4 weeks and the side needed match practice before the semi....is it still wrong then? Or is the club using all the tools available to them to succeed.

Finally a sensible comment.

The Parkway players were paid for Wednesday night apparently.

:D:D:D Course they were.  What we actually did is forced the reserve lads to pay the first team players out of their own money.  They clean their boots also.

sounds like you have a place in your heart for Parkway Mr Brown, eyeing up a move ?

4 or 5 firsts against Tavi ?

Think this has run its course now. For me, there is a simple solution - when the leagues are restructured, put all the reserve sides in one division and let them play as many first team players as they like, whenever they like, for whatever reason they like. At the moment, none can gain promotion anyway due to their first teams’ standings in leagues above them blocking their paths. Then all the non-reserve teams placed into another league where the ones who want to progress up the pyramid aren’t affected by the lottery of when they play the teams who want to play their first teams.

It does however add to matts point about the ‘reserve’ teams playing in their own league IF all reserve teams are used the correct way. Personally It’s a big enough job managing the leagues now let alone with another, so don’t think it would happen.

Haha not place in my heart for parkway mate! Torpoint only for me.

Think it was 4 or 5...can’t quite remember. 3 coming back from injury for sure and couple lack of match fitness. To be fair it probably did us more harm than good-felt like a pre season game with a new squad at times!

If it’s a different league we could all then sign for you as ‘cover’ and help you gain promotion. ???

whatever the league Clubs playin, it will always happen unless Leagues introduce a max of 3 SWPL players on the pitch at one time during a league/cup game

At what stage would a player become a SWL player?

Downside to that is you can stop progression of players within a club. Eg a young east Cornwall player helps out the SWPL side on the bench and gets a few minutes here and there. Plays too many and then can’t play East Cornwall.

Exactly.

My captain and young 16 year old is with the first team on Tuesday, not for the first time this season, that would make them ineligible for the reserves despite then only likely to come from the bench?

My theory on a reserve team league wouldn’t have any restriction - if a club wants to field half their first team for fitness, or to win a key game, then promotion or relegation wouldn’t be affected. At the moment there is a total lottery of when you play certain teams. We aren’t good enough to be in the title race at the moment so Wednesday’s events are somewhat irrelevant, but clubs on the receiving end would be left with a very sour taste if league placings were at risk. Bere Alston, for example, have done lots of work on their ground to pass the necessary grading for promotion, and are in one of the positions they need to finish in; what sort of strengthened sides will they face in the run in now?

Technically is this not the same arguement that the CSWPL have with Plymouth Argyle?  They essentially can't recieve promotion.  Which I guess helps teams around them in the league. I understand what you are saying regarding who plays who when.  However with injuroes, player availability etc etc - it's almost a lottery most weeks anyway.

In terms of Bere Alston - If they are the highest ranked team that have applied for promotion they surely they'll be considered as the other teams at the top are Torpoint, Saltash, St Austell - of whom can't be promoted.

We play Bere Alston tomorrow and now 3 of our regular lads are with the first team.  In truth probably just going to sit on their bench and not play.  Doesn't help you Matt, but probably will help Bere Alston tomorrow !

In summary - THAT - is running a reserve side.  Some weeks you have first team players, some weeks you are calling on youth players.
