After turning over Sticker; Penwith Excels face Torpoint in their Semi Final. If they can find the right formula on the day we might need a calculator to keep score against Torpoint. I make the Excels favourites to lift the cup.

why would you need a calculator? surely an abacus would be more appropriate ?

New Inn Titans 0 - 1 Torpoint Athletic

Job done but it was not easy viewing. Curtis Damerell's shot from the touchline after 30 minutes was all that separated the sides and that probably shouldn't have eluded the Titan's 'keeper - but they all count.

Last time I watched Torpoint they fielded a young, fit side but today's line up was heavy on experience and they found it quite hard going on the understandably heavy pitch.

Neither goalie was troubled much and the home side probably had a bit more of the play and the tie could definitely have gone either way.

Surprised and disappointed to see Sticker out. The semis will be interesting.

Sticker 0   Penwith Exiles 3

Twenty minutes from full time Sticker had a goal over -ruled on the say of the Exiles linesman , from that the visitors struck three times in a five minute spell.

Exiles physically stronger of the two sides, Sticker a much younger side who could have done with a couple more experienced players to guide the youngsters in tight games such as this.

Torpoint’s Scorer: Curtis Damerell

Any relation to ex Argyle player Mark Damerrel?

Well done Penwith Exiles, the better team on the day and worthy winners.
We were a bit surprised that club linesman were used for a junior cup Semi Final, one of whom appeared to also be a sub ?

It wasn't a semi final.

Thanks , now corrected. As stated Exiles worthy winners, but the use of club linesmen at this stage of the cup competition is not a good idea, especially if they are being advised what decisions to make by a clubs management.

Are you mad??? You had a club linesman too who made a lot of questionable decisions, regarding the goal, your striker was stood in an offside position obstructing our keeper so of course when the keeper has come to claim the ball and your striker had prevented that he is therefor interfering with play and it’s offside, there is certainly no question about him being in an offside position as the defence line was In front of the 6 yard box and your striker was stood marking our keeper, quite a clear decision to be made, and the linesman certainly wouldn’t be following the club managements instructions as they were on the other side of the picth.

very silly to make a big deal out of such a clear decision

The same player running the line would be the formula over riding the REF for first goal of game swearing at suporters Sticker then was shocked the Exciles goals was fair and good .Maybe speed skating is not the only sport that needs proper officials

It’s been like this for years. Where do you expect the extra officials to come from?

Calculator? I find that completely disrespectful to Torpoint, unbeaten in 11,and yes we may be a young side but we've earned the right to be in the semi final!

Thats odd, don't remember saying anything about the decision of the disallowed goal as we were not in a position to comment one way or another.
The comment was about using club linesmen.
If my memory serves me rightly, there was a rule introduced at one stage, that stated that squad players could not officiate as linesmen.
Your comment that Stickers linesman made a lot of questionable decisions, only confirms the point being made, club linesmen in a quater final of the county Junior Cup are not a good idea.

Just another case of sour grapes should have made a point to the ref before the game if you had any problems. Splashing it over here now is just a way to try and cause aload of hassle for no reason. If you had won you wouldn’t have made a point of it on here but because you have lost you have. Sour grapes

Oh dear another one who doesn't read the posts before posting,
If sour grapes means saying well done Exiles, worthy winners on the day, then guilty as charged.
Believe it or not it is possible to have an opinion about a game of football without  being biased, and as a spectator a paid for entitlement.  The comment that you have chosen to ignore was about the use of club linesmen, the ensuing comments from presumably Exile supporters, have all been supposition, wrongly on their part, of what was really meant.

Suggest you read what was said before you pass silly opinions.

Call it what you like. Year in year out we have people digging us out for whatever. How many games do clubs use their own linesman but all of a sudden just today you have to make a point about it, it’s clutchcing at staws. Better team won why can’t yiu just leave it at that?. You carry on complaining like 90% of others and we will keep winning

With no game today we took in the quarter final of the Junior Cup in what turned out to be a 13 goal thriller at St Stephen.

Have to say that St Stephen were worthy winners over what looked like a depleted Holywell (only 12 players). The home side looked like they were going to score at will in the first half and had an early goal disallowed and missed numerous other chances before going in to the interval 3-1 up. With the visitors playing with only one up front St Stephen's experienced centre half pairing of Joe Stone and Lee Whetters were rarely troubled.

The floodgates opened in a second half 'goal fest' and witnessed 9 goals - a further 6 for St Stephen - inc. 2 penalties and 3 for Holywell including arguably the goal of the game for their 2nd on 81 mins. Holywell were also reduced to 10 men late in the game for St Stephen's first penalty on 70 mins.

Overall St Stephens were always in control and were never threatened apart from a late flourish from Holywell in second half  injury time.

Good luck to St Stephens in the semi-final.

Sorry that you can,t accept an honest appraisal of the game, we ( aparrantly along with 90% of others ) will continue to state our opinions, and if you can't recognise a compliment for your team when it's offered, that's a pity, and your loss.
Also your assumption that the club linesman for the later stages of cup games issue has only been raised today, is totally incorrect.

I watched the Titans v Torpoint game as a neutral. It was a cracking cup tie and Titans were brilliant attacking in the last 20 minutes or so, but couldn't get the goal. With a few minutes to go there was a genuinely touch-and-go offside decision where the young Torpoint lad who was running the line flagged a Titans forward as offside. I don't know if he was right or not, but a group of 7 or 8 Titans fans ran over to the other side of the pitch and started physically threatening him. Did the ref report this?

These opinions always creep up after losses which is quite funny. Why haven’t you started a thread before if you feel so strongly about it?

Perhaps a little research in other areas would be a good idea, again you are making incorrect assumptions.
Look befre you leap would be a good analagy in your case, and try to look on comments made in their true meaning and not put your own twisted interpretation on them.
Too much time is spent attempting to demean the perceived opposition, rather than offering opinions on football.
Accept winning with good grace, and show respect to others, as the time will come when you will surely lose, and you will be able to say " well done ??????? the better team on the day and worthy winners.

‘‘Twas meant more as a joke about the Exiles being referred to as the Excels Mr Norman. No disrespect intended, just a mathematical joke obviously lost on some...

And this year we have lost a few big games and congratulated the teams on beating us, we didn’t jump on the forum to try tainting any of their results.

Again if you feel that strongly about the whole linesman thing maybe you should start a thread about it or even pick up the flag yourself??

Although not involved in the Sticker game in any way shape or form...... I do believe going forward that once the fixtures get to the SEMI FINALS and are at a neutral ground then there should be neutral officials. It is on a midweek day so that shouldn't be an issue (Although I don't agree with having them on a midweek when teams need to travel and work commitments etc). Seems a bit silly really

Semi finals do have neutral officials. Probably why they are midweek to free up some referees and doesn’t take them away from weekend duties.

Quarter finals have never had neutral officials. Silly comment whoever posted that earlier.

Can’t beat a semi or a final under lights. Adds to the atmosphere. And probably get more support.
