Forum To Shut Down Next Month

Recommended Posts

Myself, Dave and the other Moderators have discussed this at depth...

CornwallFootballForum.com is a independent non-profit community football website first created over 10 years ago.

Since then technology has changed, users visiting the site has significantly grown to over 1000 unique users a day.  This has meant costs associated with running the site has increased as we moved to a dedicated server.

In order to keep the site free from costs to the members we tried an advertising model. Unfortunately, this hasn't worked as expected.  So, we are asking members if they will please donate to help run the site non profit for another 12 months.

In the event that funds needed are not raised we sadly might have to close the forum at the end of 30 days if the target is not met. We are asking if members would be kind enough to donate please and keep the site going!

I don’t have a problem donating but it would be nice to know what it actually costs to run.  Is the £720 one year etc. Is there added costs on top

Richard would be better placed to tell you but time is of the essence and so hence me replying on his behalf.

I understand that the monthly cost fluctuates between £55-£60. Payments are made in dollars and so it is also subject to exchange rate movements.

Again from what I am told, last year only one advertisor paid up!

There are no added costs on top. The cost is for one year.

When we first started 10 years the site was very much a hobbiest site and the majority of people logged on via laptops it only cost £5pm.  If you can remember a couple of years ago the site use to crash every Saturday when we were overloaded by visitors. So we had to move to a server that coped with demand as more people can view the site via smartphones and tablets.

Unlike profit sites like Facebook and Google we 100% do not sell you private data to advertisers. We also don't have a advertising department behind us like the online newspapers.

Many thanks to you that have already donated we are already over 10%!

If there are approx 1000 visitors, £2 a year subscription should more than cover it?

Acutually just 0.72p a year Peggy. Cheaper than one issue of the West Briton

Think you would be well within your rights to ask for a small subscription to cover running costs (might put off some of the temporary account keyboard warriors too)

Pleased to have made a modest contribution, better that than be bombarded with adverts/pop-ups or emails from all corners of the earth.

Just wondering though, could I have paid more and had a bullshit filter ??

Nice one, Paul.

Thanks to all those donated last night pushing us over the 95% barrier. As Dave said a tremendous effort!!  Can't believe the responses from donators from Cornish football supporters across the world.

Today proves the value of the Forum as people come on here to find out if their game is postponed and find out if there is another game on for them to watch.

If you didn't have this forum think of the wasted fuel you would use going to postponed games.

So what have you saved in wasted fuel today?

Why not donate that same amount to keep this forum open. We may have raised enough for this season but there is always funding needed for future years. So did deep, donate the money you have saved today to keep us going.

Been on holiday?

Just been evicted from the Big Brother House?

Skint last week or payday this?

Haven't been on-line?

Before you buy your next packet of fags, pint, or something you don't really need, think about something you can't do without, The Cornwall Football Forum.

Even though we have reached this year's target we still need to raise funds for forthcoming seasons

Please give
