Trelawny 3

Frogpool Reserved 9-0 St Just Reserves

Dominant display from start to finish. The front three played incredibly and the whole side were great throughout.

Harry Payne opened the scoring with a beautiful finish after a Sam Macwilliam through ball. Jack Froud doubled the lead quickly with a header after Payne's stunning cross.

Jack Froud also tucked away two penalties to complete a hat trick and set up a well timed Sam Macwilliam header. Harry Payne's crosses were too much for the St Just defence who also turned one in for an own goal.

Payne scored another good goal in the second half, and Ashley Johnson smashed two replica free kicks into the bottom corner from twenty yards out.

Sam Bromley also pulled off a Hollywood save, filling in in goal. The defence were brilliant through out as well.

And considering we were without a lot of players we played exceptionally.

Man of the Match: Harry Payne.

So sorry we didn't get back to THS Social club after the game as I said we would Brian, but the traffic was horrendous and those who had family with them were soaked through. Apologies if we caused any inconvenience. 1-1 was a fair result and a good battle in the conditions. All the best to you for the rest of the season.

Rosudgeon Res. 12-v-2 Newlyn NA Res.

A bright, sunny day on the south coast of West Cornwall greeted the Newlyn old boys team at Rosudgeon today. A light breeze thankfully lowered the temperature, and we did suggest a game of bowls instead, with the pitch resembling a snooker table cloth. It would certainly have suited the experienced Newlyn team instead of an energetic association football match. Anyway, with this request turned down, we set up the team. Montague went between the sticks as usual, Wellesley went in at centre-back, St. Leger at right-back and Grosvenor at left-back. Moving forward, Darwin-Wedgwood held the centre-half position, Lowther slotted into right half and Chichetser at left half, with Beaufort at inside right, Cavendish at inside left,  with Gough-Calthorpe running down the right wing and Fortescue down the left wing. What could possibly go wrong? Rosudgeon would not know what hit them.

By half time, we knew the game plan was not necessarily going to plan, so we discussed the situation over a brandy and a couple of sneaky Chesterfields. Although Beaufort had found the onion bag for the visitors with an exquisite 30 yard chip, the home team rapscallions had booted, hoofed, flicked and nicked 6 or 7 themselves. Perhaps by pushing our centre-half up to join the forward line would bridge the gap, so up went Wellesley to join the forward line. Somehow, although this plan clearly worked with Newlyn forcing a second half corner, and netting from the penalty spot with Beaufort notching up his second, the band of hooligans we faced has stabbed, blasted, bashed and poked another 5 or 6.

12-2 it finished, well done to Rosudgeon.

Wendron 3rds 2-3 Illogan Rbl 3rds

A very wet fiesty strange game at underlane, After beating wendron at home a few weeks ago and with wendron beating newlyn and taking points off of probus since we knew this would be a real test for us and the conditions were awful for both sides.....

The first 15 minutes we were excellent a brilliant cross from Luke Healan was met with a bullet header from Sam waters which flew into the roof of the net, minutes later our man of the match Anton Oliver was released by waters and he slotted it home 2-0 the game really became a open affair end to end two committed sides some huge tackles, on half hour mark wendron full back went past couple of Illogan defenders and fired home 2-1

then the crazy moment a minute or so before half time wendron corner as it's getting delivered referee stops everything and points to penalty spot crazy and to everyone's amusement his reasoning was wendrons striker pushed our defender into there other attacker who went over penalty!!! To everyone's shock on both benches it was given and after a re take wendron midfielder scored 2-2  After the game referee did say may of got it seen it wrong but had rain in his eyes.... Oh well half time I said we simply needed to win the game again and losing centre back Tom Lyth didn't help matters with a injury but we made couple of positional changes and thankfully they worked...

It kinda got worse within 15 minutes of the second half our goalie had picked up a injury so outfielder Malcolm nicholls came on took the gloves and did really well credit to him, we started to take control and Oliver, waters and Captain Carl stretton all went close before Oliver went on a solo run beating numerous defenders before being hacked down in the box, after us missing our last 3 penalties Jon Ayres this time stepped up and fired into corner of net, remaining of game wendron put pressure on us lot's of balls into box but we stood strong clearing everything that came our away and with a couple of great chances on the break should of wrapped it up however wasn't to be last few minutes we kept ball in wendron half and seen a out a big 3 points and a important win against a side who will be there or there abouts come end of season..

Best of luck to wendron rest of season cheers for food afterwards ? probus in the cup next up

No worries Graham, it was a tad wet!!

i thought we played the best first half and missed a couple of good chances, second half you came more into the game and our keeper made a good block to keep it at 1-1......but the BIG decision of day, (well not really as every player on the pitch and every supporter and management of both sides knew) 2 minutes to go, our winger drove into box, full back up ended him, (we all started to celebrate, you all had head in hands) but for some reason, only he will know, referee said play on!!!! Maybe he didn't want to make a big decision near end of game?

game was played in good spirits on and off the pitch.

good luck for rest of season mate. ?
