What we’re looking to do……..

The Trelawny League are organising a new
League that allows players (16yrs and over) to play a version
of 11 a side football that is fast, sociable and enjoyable –
all the good bits of the game in a condensed format.

It should allow people to maintain or rediscover their
love of playing the 11 a side game alongside other
work, family, education or leisure commitments. We are also using the league to ease the transition between youth to open aged football aswell as finding new players to start playing the game that we love.

This format of the game is called Flexible Football.

What is a Flexible Football league?

The Trelawny Flexi Football League games will take place at Penwith College (Penzance) every Wednesday night from 18:30pm on a floodlit, artificial pitch.

We will have 8 teams per phase (2 phases per playing season). Four of the teams will be in action each week in games that last 70 minutes. The league will feature repeat substitutions – allowing the involvement of all players and those with varying levels of fitness. 

Although games are competitive most players involved do so for fitness and social reasons and there is friendly atmosphere
with very few disciplinary issues. Sin Bins are used by referees instead of yellow cards. Team administration in Flexible Football is kept as simple as possible, allowing team managers to focus on recruiting and fielding a team. Flexible Football is however not just
a ‘kick about’ – It is proper organised football. When players turn up they see a high quality pitch and floodlights, FA qualified Referees, and a competition that is well run and enjoyable.

The main focus of this League is to encourage participation! We will be using it to encourage more youth players to step up to open aged football, to encourage those that have left the game to return and to encourage players who may have never played before to get involved.
