Charity Football Match in Saltash on Christmas Eve.

Saltmill Park, Saltash, is the place to be on Christmas Eve as two teams packed full of Saltash legends go head to head all in the name of charity.

Last year’s winning managers Callington Town goalkeeper Sam Borthwick and Adam Stiff will be selecting a squad of players aged under 29 to defend their trophy.

There has been a change in the opposition where Brinton Nute has stood down from his managerial role. Co manager Will Swales has acted swiftly and brought in the vastly experienced Jason O’Melia to assist him & they will be selecting a squad of players aged over 29.

The game kicks off at 11:00am and both sides are confident of fielding strong squads.

The defending champions include last years matchwinner Callum O'Brien along with fellow Saltash United player Dave Barker, Callington Town's Tyler Borthwick as well as locally born actor Royce Pierrson who has starred in, amongst other things, Murdered by My Boyfriend and Thor: The Dark World.

The challengers included Chris Clarke, Stuart Fort, Tony Jane, Lee Jacketts, Adam Keith & Mark Toms in their ranks.

Benefiting from the match will be the charity Kits4causes as part of a project run by ex St Stephens Borough secretary Julian Chenery.

Kits4Causes is a charity based in the UK that collects unwanted sports equipnent and distributes it to social development projects around the world, predominantly in Africa.

To support the appeal anyone attending the game is asked to bring an old item of sports kit to donate. This can be a shirt, a pair of shorts, socks, boots – basically anything. If in doubt donate!

In the absence of a kit donation an entry fee of £1 will be collected to go to the specialist kit collecting charity Kits4Causes.

The match has been sponsored by Crash Repair Centre, Saltash and the man of the match award by Ryan James Heating & Plumbing.

What better way to start Christmas Eve then watching some of the best players to come out of Saltash facing off against each other and supporting this great cause.
