Perranporth 5 Halsetown 2 (ht 1-0)

Referee Ken Keema opened proceedings with 2 minutes silence on a fine sunny morning as a mark of respect on Remembrance Sunday at Ponsmere Valley.

Perranporth had the better of the early exchanges with the Halsetown keeper making two good saves from Paul Robertson, the first from a free kick and the second a great save from Robertsons low left footed strike that was heading for the bottom left corner.  Halsetown created some good chances going close twice with shots across goal that unfortunately failed to find the back of the net.

Perranporth took the lead from the penalty spot midway through the half after Dean Bettle was upended in the box. Mick lane sending the keeper the wrong way.  The half could have ended even when a Halsetown player was sent through on goal only to be pulled back outside the box with the ref awarding a free kick. The resulting free kick was put high and wide.

The second half was only 10 minutes old when Stuart Gerty doubled the hosts lead with a well taken goal after good work from the Perran midfield.   Halsetown were then awarded a penalty themselves, Kev Toms slotting home calmly with the keeper rooted to the spot.  Numerous chances were created by both teams but Perran increased their lead again with Dave Rawlings bundling the ball home following a corner to make the score 3-1. Halsetown again reduced the arrears following a good move down the left and a pinpoint cross from the left midfielder found the centre forward who finished well when under pressure.

Perran made it 4-2 with 10 minutes to go, Dean Bettle scoring with a first time strike after good work by Paul Robertson.  The game was then wrapped up on 90 minutes after Dean Bettle went clean through and Mick Lane knicked the ball off his toe when he was about to shoot to round the keeper and pass the ball in to an empty net.

Great sportsmanship showed by both teams on the day with Perranporth maintaining their 100% record in the league.  Good luck to Halsetown for the rest of the season.

Royal Par 0 Callington 5. Despite a strong squad we were no match for Callington, Trucks deserving of a hatrick befitting of a quality player and all round nice guy. Kept them at bay for as long as we could but only so much we could do. We may lose but like to think we make the right kind of opposition, tough nuts to crack but play in the right spirit. Callington appreciated the food after the game, roast potatoes and gravy plus chicken parmigiana. Callington looking forward to playing us for the next 10 weeks away or until they are full. Good luck for the season Callington.
