Truro City 3 Willand Rovers 0

Recommended Posts

Truro maintained their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday with a Jekyll and Hyde performance with the final scoreline slightly flattering City who found Willand worthy opponents at Treyew Road.

The first half saw a disjointed City struggle to compete with Willand who caused the defence several problems as the half progressed with Willand front man Paul Pocock looking outstanding in their attack. With twenty two minutes gone Vaughen in City's goal producing a good fine point blank save, City's only real chance of the half came from Shane Tolley's who's rasping shot from the edge of the area was turned around the post by Whatley.

Truro were constantly pushed back by the big Willand side and were lucky to not find themselves a goal behind when Pocock's header was superbly saved by Vaughen although several fans thought the ball had crossed the line but the referee and his assistant judged that not the whole ball had crossed the line.

What ever was said behind closed doors at half time seemed to inspire Truro and they showed their bouncebackability with a sterling performance and as the half went on they began to take control although Willand were always a threat to the Tigers.

The opening goal came on 53 minutes when Martin's shot from the edge of the area was blocked and as it came back to him he unleashed a left footed shot that found the corner of the net. There were welcome returns in the second half for Tom Smith and Kevin Wills which seemed to strengthen the side even more.

On seventy six minutes after a Wills effort had been deflected for a corner the ball found Reski who scored with a superb effort and a definite contender for goal of the season. Truro continued to create more chances and Tolley should of scored with two minutes left on the clock but his effort failed to hit the target.

The third goal however did come deep into injury time after great work from Wills who's cross to the far post found the head of Yetton who scored his 20th goal of the season to maintain their twelve point lead at the top of the table.

Yes,a great result against a very good Willand side.I would say the first half was even steven with the big Willand back row cutting out Cities half chances. All I know is once again the half time team talk with Dave Leonard worked wonders, and like all good sides raised there game a couple of gears.3 great goals and with a bit of luck could have been 5 or 6.Nice to see Smithy and Willser come on in the 2nd half, and what a difference they made.Once again a great display by Marcus Martin. With the first team regulars coming back from injury it is looking good for next weeks F A Vase game with Almondsbury Town. And the support is growing every week.

KIT 65.
