Mens Sunday League

This post was taken from the Sunday League's Facebook Page

We have had confirmation the league will start on Sunday 11th Sept.

The league will be divided up into 3 mini leagues of 4; East, Mid and West. The mid will contain 2 teams each from the East and West whilst the other groupings are self explanatory.

Each team within a group will play each other home/away (6 games in total). The top 3 teams + best runner up will form the Champions group. The other 2 runners up and 2 best 3rd placed teams will form section B and the final 4 teams will form section C. Each team within each group will again play each other home/away. The winners of Champions group will be crowned overall Champion whilst the winner of section B and C will also win a trophy. This gives every team something to play for.

Whilst 10.30 kick off will remain the norm, when the second phase begins and teams from East meet teams from West, then the 2 teams can discuss a later kick off agreeable to both.

The East will adopt the West rules, i.e. 3 senior players + 5 rolling subs. This is the same as the Sunday cup and puts us all on an equal footing. The East will also adopt the West player registration forms which minimizes paper work and requires only 1 sheet per team rather than 1 sheet per player. No registration numbers either, very similar to the old grey Sunday Cup forms if anyone can remember.

East affiliation will be in line with West, £55 instead of £75.

Between the league phases each area will play their own cup competitions which will allow us to keep some identity.

Regarding the East we will be inviting 2 clubs into taking part in our cups which will give us 8 in total, a perfect number for this type of competition. One will be a team that had hoped to join the league but it was felt this would unbalance the format for the first season. We hope that by inviting them into the East Cups it will give them a feel for the league with a view to entering next year. This team are based in Truro and are completely new. The other side is local to the St Austell area. The Cup Finals of both leagues will be played in May as always.
