NANPEAN  (0)  2   Pappiouniou 44'  Friendship 51'

ARGYLE  (2)  3   Oliver 17'  Rapsey 25'  Fergus- 78'

After watching a load of under performing millionaires rolling around in pretend agony at the Euros it was nice to go and watch a good honest local game in front of a decent crowd of 50+ at the lovely picturesque Victoria Bottoms. It was a good workout for both teams with new Nanpean manager Steve Wearne testing his new look team against a group of talented 17 years olds who play some great passing football under the leadership of Mike Foley and local legend Neil Slateford. Argyle were prominent in the opening stages with Kyle Marks and Tyler Oliver running the midfield and took the lead when striker Jack Rapsey dropped a lovely ball over the top for Oscar Fergus- to  force the keeper into a good save but Oliver was on hand to squeeze home from a narrow angle. It was 2-0 less than 10 minutes later when Rapsey nicked the ball off the experienced Bradley Ralph in the left back position and he cut in and drifted past two defenders before shooting in at the near post. Nanpean came into the game after that and created some chances of their own with Wearne still a class act on the ball. The hosts scored right on half time when a great ball in from the right was finished well. Nanpean carried on where they left off at the start of the second half and deservedly equalised when a one on one was finished well under the keeper. This sparked the young fit Argyle team back into life to dominate the last 25 minutes or so and they created chance after chance with Marks, Oliver, Rapsey and Jowan Dingle all being denied by the keeper and Rapsey also crashed a shot off the crossbar from the edge of the area after a great one touch passing move that deserved a goal. The youngsters finally got the goal their football deserved when Oliver whipped in a free kick for Fergus- to bullet home a header past the inspired keeper. Man of the match Callum Bertrand was in fine form at the back as Argyle saw the game out in an enjoyable match to watch in which there were plenty of positives for both teams. Good game ?⚽️
