You're in charge - What would you do?

I thought this would be quite a fun thing to do.

What would you do?

I'm going to start have a little quiz every few days (or when I get time to do so) just to see what you would do, as referee in these situations. These are open to everyone; players, referees, spectators etc. Have a go and see what you think. Ignore the numbers in brackets, these are for my reference. I'll post the answers the following day.

Scenario 1 (365)

A striker who is clean through on goal suddenly pulls up short - it looks like a hamstring injury. But when the crouching keeper hesitates and stands up, the striker smashes the ball into the net. It was a ruse. Goal or no goal?

Scenario 2 (362)

In stormy weather, a keeper punches the ball clear - and watches in amazement as it is caught by a sudden gust of wind. It loops upfield - where the opposition keeper totally misjudges the bounce. It ends up in the net. Goal or no goal?

Scenario 3 (361)

In high wind a player tries a throw-in down the line. The ball enters the field of play, but isn't touched by anyone else before it is blown back out again. Is it a retake, a foul-throw or something else?

Answers on a postcard.

And the winner is... @TheolderIgetthebetterIwas.

1) Goal. It’s not exactly sporting behaviour, but it doesn’t qualify as unsporting behaviour in the laws. The goalkeeper must be alert at all times and, as everyone knows, play to the whistle.

2) Goal. A keeper can score goals, and is allowed to use his hands inside his own area – so he’s done nothing wrong here. But you also need to consider whether to abandon the game. If the weather conditions are having such an impact on play – and potentially posing a risk to safety – you may be forced to call it off

3) It’s something else. Award a normal throw to the opposition. The ball entered the field of play in a legal way, and the last player who touched it was the throw-taker. Imagine a long-throw specialist who somehow managed to throw the ball out over the opposite touchline – it’s the same here. There’s no offence to punish.

Ill try again with a few more tomorrow. Only had two people try it today, so if no one seems interested, I'll stop :)

1 hour ago, Bruegel the Elder said:

Not good enough Dange'rous, some of us have to work for a living, and in a no wi-fi zone! You said you'd give it 'till the next day and then give Older three points in only eleven hours! Foul!

I'd have got them twice as right as Older, at least. I demand a recount, extra time and penalties! To say nothing of a replay!

C'MON, C'MON - lets be having ya.
