Cornwall FA v Royal Navy - Senior Rep Team Match - Wednesday 27th January

A Cornwall Senior Representative side will take on a Royal Navy representative side on the above date on the back of  last season’s 125th Anniversary match which received positive feedback from players and spectators.

The Cornwall team will be managed by Glynn Hooper who will be hoping to match the result last season which was an excellent 4-2 win for Cornwall.

At the moment the game is being staged at Truro City with a 7.30pm KO. However the CCFA  will be inspecting Treyew Road on Monday to see its condition following Saturday’s game, with an eye also looking towards the weather. A couple of clubs have been approached should Treyew Road not be available as the CCFA is really hoping to get this game played. Any change of venue or cancellation, should the other options not be available, will be announced as soon as possible.

There will be a small entry fee on the evening and any profits will go to the county FA's chosen charity for this season - The Cornish Heart Unit Fund.

Glynn has been in constant contact with the managers of the respective teams and with so many important games coming up due to the backlog for clubs it is really positive that the managers have released their players.

The 20-man squad is:-
Dave Painter (St Blazey), Jason Chapman, Lee Whetter, Martin Giles, Martin Watts, Olly Brokenshire, Chris Reski, Neil Slateford and Liam Eddy (all AFC St Austell), Jamie Lowry and Phil Lowry (both Godolphin), Tom Chambers, Steve Simmonds, Nick Hurst, Jordan Dingle and Adam Carter (all Bodmin Town), Mark Goldsworthy (Helston Athletic), Dave Trott and Sam Farrant (both Saltash Utd), and Ed Timmons (Falmouth Town)

I think with the County Youth it ws a done deal to use Treyew Road in return for their coach for away travels.

This being the County Senior side it would have been good for  CCFA public relations to play on another one  of its affiliated clubs ground.

Another wet day and more to follow before next Wednesday. Where ever we wanted to play this fixture the weather damaged pitches will have the final say.
