Truro City 4 Devizes Town 0

Recommended Posts

This was once again another solid and strong performance by the Tigers at Treyew Road on Saturday and with the result saw them extend their lead at the top of the Western League Premier.

The first twenty minutes saw City gain control after a stuttering start Vercesi's shot was saved well by Dunn at the second attempt but it was two good saves from Chapman that kept City in the match early on. The deadlock was broken on 33 minutes when Andy Watkins scored with a sublime shot which left Owen Dunn in the Devizes goal.

The game then started opening up with Devizes lead by former City player Darren Robison leading by example, but he was unable to stop his side falling a further goal behind just two minutes from half time when that man Watkins snapped in a rebound from a Yetton shot. It was Yetton who almost marked his 100th game with a goal on 49 minutes but his shot came off the post and was knocked away to safety.

The Tigers were forced into a substitution when Andy Watkins pulled up with what seemed to be a hamstring injury and was replaced by Tolley, City made it three on 69 minutes with the move of the match Scott Walker crossing from the left wing which Gosling headed back for Vercesi who set up Chris Reski to score from 20 yards with a fierce drive. Devizes never gave up but couldn't trouble the City defence and with eleven minutes on the clock conceded a forth Tolley's shot was half blocked on the line and after a scramble there Vercesi managed the put the ball over the line to complete the scoring.
