WendronOfficial
On Sunday August 2nd, Wendron United will be hosting a charity match in aid of Cancer Research. The Valerie Martin match, named after the organiser's mother will begin at 12 noon with lots of other events going on throughout the day; such as a bbq, face painting, a raffle and drinking. The match will consist of current and former players of Wendron FC; many names you may be familiar with. The organiser, Craig 'Bushy' Martin, and Robin Watt will be managing one side. Club and local legend, Peter Thorne, will be managing the other side, along with Steve Webber. We are charging £5 to view the match for persons aged 17+, players will also be donating £5 to play. All proceeds are going to Cancer Research and Macmillon Cancer Support. Match balls are being donated for £100 and we have already raised over £1000. So if you are stuck at a loose end on August 2nd, then get yourself to Wendron and celebrate a day of remembering loved ones for a well worthy cause. We are also on the hunt for raffle prizes; so if you are interested in donating a raffle prize or know of a company or person who may be, then please let us know. You can inbox us on here or email via wendronunited@hotmail.comAdmin-wasn't sure where to put this for all to see so put it everywhere. Please remove from a forum if too much. Thank you for your time.

baldy
I'm sure Phil will love it clashing with the league's charity day at Holsworthy lol
Guest
A friendly is a friendly. It's a good cause and the SWPL Charity Day, too a good cause doesn't have exclusive rights for the day, although a Wendron official would have to pick up their stationary packs for the season at Holsworthy. It gives football fans an alternative to stay in Cornwall rather than a day out in England.
WendronOfficial
Baldy, realise there was a clash; the event has been in the diary for a long time and was a date that most of the people we asked to play could attend. Thank you Willow Tree.
