This rule change would have been ideal for us this weekend, with 15 minutes to go we had used our 3 subs, then one of players suffered a realy bad nose bleed he had to come on and off several times to try and stop it. The game had to be stopped several times, had we had the new rule we could of taken him off treated him properly and return him to the game. We had to play with 10 men while he recieved treatment, I just think if the option of substuting him & giving proper treatment would of been the best option.

still think its a load of bull!!! i know it's junior football but that doesn't mean were kids.... it's fine the way it is.... i may not even bother playing let alone running my team next season.... seriously contemplating it.. only reason i am in junior football is because i run a team... but there's no chance i am playing with ridiculous rules... senior football here i come!!!!
</blockquote

bit of a ridiculous reason to not run your team just because you dont like one rule!! who said there is no loyalty in football! !!! like many people have said on this thread. .you dont have to use rolling subs. ..if you don't like the rule dont use it. ...simples!

dobbie totally agree, rule changes come in every sport, but this one is of choice people have to remember that it is at a manaagers discression if they want to roll someone on and off and bet you say this now but you wont be complaining when you have 3 subs brought them all on and someone else gets injured and you got luxury of bringing someone back on that playing with 10 think about positives and give it go before just jumping the gun

yea rule's change all the time in every sport but are you every going too see roll on roll off subs in higher standard football?? and i don't think my loyalty for my club is in question... last season was the worst season i've had with a club in football since i played for mousehole mini's.... and if i was that much of a sore loser i wudda left then... i have just managed to build a squad together and we are doing very well... but now thanks to this crappy rule looks like we will struggle next season... it's not the point on whether to implement it or not... the fact that our team have 2 subs on the best of day's and if we were in a roll on roll of subs situation especially it being 5 subs then we would've struggled this season... too me it seem's like everything our team has achieved in the short time of being together looks like it cud be undone next season... i have wanted too play senior football for a few season's now but was never in the right frame of mind for it... i ain't saying i'm just gonna pack it up and give up on my team (although the last message may have implied it) i'm just pist at the fact that our little team is doing well this season and could be effected next season if were up against teams with 5 subs refreshing there players all the time and i just think... in my opinion that it makes the league look a lot more amateur than it already is... the league are making a big deal about applying for the fa charter thing to better our league but yet we are going backwards in my opinion by enforcing roll on roll off subs... a bit of healthy competition in your squad better's players if anything... i should know... going back to the mousehole mini's day's, i got 5-10 minutes on the pitch if i was lucky! what did i do? i went to every training session, kept my head down and got on with it because i wanted to better myself... the team folded so we went to alverton athletico... again went to every training session because i wanted to better myself... on average i started half the games and was sub half the game's and by the 3rd season of my "football career" i was captain and was for the rest of alverton kid's... the coach also gave me a great compliment in saying i was one of the best cb's in cornwall in my age group (true or not) it was great to hear as i knew i couldn't even kick a ball a few season's back.... my point being that if a youngster give's up just because he's getting no playing time then he is obviously not that interested.... if you ain't getting the playing time then turn up too training every time... listen to what the coach has too say and try too improve on the bit's you need to improve on.. a good attitude and determination and you can do whatever you want... i had no ability too play football when i started and if i gave up just because i only got 5 mins a game i wouldn't be doing what i am doing now....

Why are you going to struggle if you only have 2 subs? those 2 subs currently mean 2 substitutions. In future those 2 subs can mean 6 substitutions, therefore putting you on a part with anyone who has 5 subs available. Where's the negative in that?

This will be rolled out at Combo level eventually as well, reason being is because those clubs do not enter any national FA competitions, those in the leagues above won't have the rule change because of entering the VASE and the FA Cup and such like therefore they're all playing off a similar playing field.

Its all about increasing participation, the majority of clubs at junior level are there to provide football for the community, hopefully the clubs will be there long after you and I have gone, so why not get more involved, if they're not that great but enjoy the game, they'll be able to get 10 minutes here and there and still enjoy it. But at the moment, they're not getting on at all because manager's don't want to risk it.

we have 2 subs at the best of times... and yeah maybe we cud mean 6 subs but if your putting it that way then we cud be up against 15 subs... i have no problems using my weaker player's... if someone needs a rest then i will bring the sub on... i am as fair as i can possibly be with my club and because i have been one of those players not getting enough playing time i am more willing too help them out... but i have no time for those who aren't that interested and again like i said if they quit because for a season they're not getting enough playing time then they weren't that interested in the first place.. i have a player for me now that joined us just before christmas last season.. and if we had subs then he was one of them.. this season he has improved massively and is slowly breaking his way in to the starting line up, he's even had a couple of good goals... that was because he wants to play football, has a good attitude and determination... he keeps getting better and better because he wants to not because he has nothing to do on a saturday so to waste a bit of time he can have 10 mins in the first half and 10mins in the second half (for example)and it doesn't matter whether or not he is poor or actually interested..... because it's ok.. he can be brought off again. if you don't risk things then you'll never get anywhere... more fool the manager's who don't wanna risk there "weaker players" coming off the bench to potentially mixing it up a bit.... i just dont think there will be enough drive for players to wanna perform better to break into the starting line up... that is just my opinion from the experience i have had myself... i can understand what your saying completely but that is what i think on the matter

Personally I think rolling subs are great as it allows manangers to bring players off for a variety of reasons - to allow them to 'cool down', see how an injury goes or even to just give everyone fair game time. This league is classed as recreational football and is more about involvement than performance and the rolling subs allow managers to try and keep as many people involved as possible. I've got a few players carrying injuries at the moment and I hate having to keep someone on the bench just in case one of them breaks down. Sometimes it takes us an hour to get to a game so surely everyone should have a fair run out?

For me its a no brainer and its a shame we didnt start it sooner - personal choice and like many have said it is up to individual clubs whether or not they want to use it.

I don't understand why so many people are hung up on the fact that the rules should be the same from the Premier League all the way down to the lowest depths of junior football?!

Yes everyone should be competitive and want to improve and win but ultimately football at this level is a community sport with the main priority being enjoyment and participation.

Big squad? Great, you can now use all 5 of your subs. IF YOU WANT TO

Small squad? Ideal, you can use your 1 sub without worrying about what will happen if someone gets injured and then keep your players a little fresher by rotating throughout the game. IF YOU WANT TO

Used all your subs and then a player gets injured? Bring someone else back on.

There are far more positives than negatives and I don't think many managers will use this rule unless they have to due to circumstances in an individual game.

I wonder how many people used the 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' line when they first implemented the one sub rule, or when they changed it from 1 sub to 3 subs?

Things change, move with the times and try looking at the positives rather than focusing on any potential negatives.

can't wait to get started,we at wendron are very lucky to have a large youth system and with the new rolling subs we will be able to give these youngsters there first taste of mens football when they turn 16 of course.this will also hopefully keep our more mature players on their toes knowing that there may be a youngster pushing for their starting place.:yahoo:

As St Darren has stated, no one has posted legitimate negative reasons against the rolling sub rule. "It's a joke". "Specialist teams like American football". What a load of trash. This, in my opinion, shows the mentality of some of the posters on here. Wayward. The positive ideas posted far and away outnumber any negative thoughts. No contest. The rolling subs rule wins. And about time! The negative people will soon disappear into the moonlight as they themselves take advantage of their new tool. They will be the only perpetrators of taking the out of the ruling should anyone decide to play silly.

I think thats it's rubbish rolling subs should only ne used on a Sunday as Sunday football is for overweight un fit and extremely hungover players who need the luxury of rolling subs and tbh I think that it will ruin Saturday football for all the clubs that struggle to get players!!!!!!!!

Another post without a real negative about the idea. Get in the real world, Saturday football at junior level and combo level is far far worse than sunday football up country.

Clubs without players will struggle anyway, rolling subs will not make one jot of difference

Having spoken to several referees and a referee assessor (not naming names!) in the last few weeks, I know they are dead set AGAINST the idea. I believe they are concerned over the control of the rolling substitutions in what is feared will disrupt a "flowing" game of football.

My view, really not bothered either way.

Darren, you are quoting large city area`s where there is a large catchment area and far more players involved, when i officiated on Sunday football in a smaller area much like Truro the standard was much the same because they were all the same players who were playing saturday and wanted another game on sunday, so it`s difficult to draw comparisons as it will vary area to area.

As I've said on here earlier we've been using this for a while now and to be honest I've seen very few teams use it . I must admit that I did'nt like the idea mainly because I think that the F.A. should be more concerned with the shortage of players countrywide than seeing this as the answer . As it stands my views have changed somewhat as it has'nt created any problems .I think that you'll find the same in your league when it comes into effect . As far as referees go there doesn't appear to be any problems , they just identify the named subs and let them on and off as and when . In short as someone has said in an earier post it does'nt have to be used and in my experience it won't be by many teams , but it can be helpfull in the situation mentioned in the Sennen game .

Mangle why dont you go back to the days of no subs and you had to play on or play with 9 or 10 etc. Thats when it was a mans sports, now it is becoming a joke. Oh your hair is out of place why dont you come off and have a rest and so on.

The rolling subs will ruin the flow of the game, make it even more difficult for refs. Gradually the whole game will change for the worse and the game we grew up to love will become the new snooker, the sport no one wants.....

Of course managers want roll on subs it saves them the hassle of telling players they are not coming on etc etc etc but the reality it is not good for the game

Darren i think you will find the sunday league is much better in cities like liverpool and manchester etc is due very much to the fact that alot of the football players go and watch local premiership teams on a sat or due to being a much busier city work. This does not happen in cornwall for obvious reasons. Need I go on .......

Here's another point, correct me if I'm wrong ...

I understand that the reinstatement rule will somewhat be "relaxed" next season.

Therefore on any particular saturday, if you have a reserve/2nd team that have say 11 or 12 players, if the clubs first team don't have a game, then you can stick 5 first team players on the bench and roll them on.

This forum have numerous threads about so called "ringers" affecting games. This may give license for more of the same. Just a thought.

Deano, we're talking about grass roots football here. We play for pleasure, yes to win, but we are not professionals. The rolling subs rule will be beneficial to grass roots football and will not ruin the game we love. We as players do enough of that by cheating, feigning injuries and so on. Rolling subs is a positive step.

I persume you dont play mangle as whether it is at a world cup or five a side game You should have the passion to win, play to the best of your ability.

The rolling subs will make refs game harder, will they want to ref ?? Will the shortage become worse ?
It will hold up the games ? Imagine the last 15 mins if your losing and the manager keeps making subs to waste time.

More first team players will drop down making the game worse off again, you play at a standard that suits you and your team so why then drop players down to make it non competitive and with this rolling subs rule it will make it easier for teams to do this.

PLease feel free to respond to these points if I am wrong ? I persume you will now go quiet ........

Too many immobile referees who dont move from the centre circle - no wonder they are against it. Far too many referees taking the money and not earning it - 35 -00 yesterday and he never saw the penalty areas. Yeah i know, we cannot play without them blah blah blah but is it too much for them to run about and look interested and marshall rolling subs. 35-00 for ninety minutes equates to about 23 an hour - not bad is it? Let rolling subs take place and use it if you want to.

Having spoken to several referees and a referee assessor (not naming names!) in the last few weeks, I know they are dead set AGAINST the idea. I believe they are concerned over the control of the rolling substitutions in what is feared will disrupt a "flowing" game of football.

Right, lets have a look here....

"I persume you dont play"......Wrong - I play.

"You should have the passion to win, play to the best of your ability"......oh I do. What makes you think I don't? I'm 48 and still able to get a game in Trelawny 1, I'm giving it a f.ucking good go.

"The rolling subs will make refs game harder".....will it really. I believe the trials in this years Junior Cup did not throw up massive problems and was generally well received. On what basis will the referee's job be made more difficult?

"will they want to ref"....whatever makes a ref want to do it in the first place? Are you seriously suggesting that this rule change alone will make ref's give up?

"Will the shortage become worse".....I doubt it, at least not because of rolling subs!

"It will hold up the games".....I hardly think so. The "against lobby" all appear to assume that every team and every game will witness continual substitutions. This will not happen.

"Imagine the last 15 mins if your losing and the manager keeps making subs to waste time".....I can imagine some blockhead manager doing something like this. But at what cost? His team will also experience the frustration this pathetic action will cause, so grow a pair of balls and play properly, with passion, and to the best of your ability as you put it. If taking this kind of action is to the best of your ability, I feel sad for you.

"More first team players will drop down making the game worse off again"......Why? Explain why introducing rolling subs will cause more first team players to drop down?

"you play at a standard that suits you and your team so why then drop players down to make it non competitive and with this rolling subs rule it will make it easier for teams to do this"......I don't understand your logic here?

Goodness knows where this whole idea came from - to me it's unnecessary and if adopted could cause many problems. Potential for more players getting and carrying injuries. Plus - if your second or third team plays at a lower level, the step up to the first team will be a massive one.

Bad idea and not needed.

Please someone explain this to me and how rolling subs is a negative, 1st team, 2nd team, 3rd team, what?

I can't see how rolling subs will lead to time wasting, the ref can just add it on if he thinks a particular team is over doing it, probably even the odd yellow card if he felt it, and as for time wasting at our level we haven't even started to roll around feigning injury to chew up the clock yet.

Let's face it fellas, at our level we just want game, rolling subs will give more players game time, but i'm guessing by and large they will only get it when the result is beyond doubt either way

watched the western area final at penzance last week and forgot all about rolling subs until illogan made their 4th change.it did not ruin the game in any way shape or form.

simple choice use it or don't use it.

this is why we all love football, because we are all experts with our own opinions on whats right and whats wrong.there are lots of things we like and some we don't at the end of the day we turn up and get on with the game end of :drink::c:

Mr Manning - I have obviously touched a nerve again - you must agree that the bad ones give the good ones a bad name - just like players and managers and in life in general. We see the same sort of comment about the men in charge on here frequently - can the authors be wrong every time? When points are raised about the conduct of players and managers I promise you that I make sure that those comments cannot be aimed at personnel connected to my club so perhaps instead of just getting the hump, look for the fire that goes with the smoke.

le boss, i have worked out your problems and a solution, why don`t you referee and be brilliant in all the area`s in which the current officials fail dismally and just think of the money your club will save, see problems solved in one quick easy answer.

le boss, I assure you I have not got the hump and you have not touched a nerve, ( as a referee I learnt not to get touchy many years ago) I actually agree yes there are some poor referee`s but they are far out weighed by the number of good ones the classic case are where a referee gets a slagging on here I look up to see who it was and it`s is someone I know who is a good referee. I have been slagged off on this forum several times I also have been told by teams after the games ( not only the winning side ) that I was the best referee that they had had all season, now I do not change my style of refereeing game to game what changes is the players and club officials approach to the game and it`s referee, so on that I conclude many comments about officials are misplaced.

Mangle two things :

Well done for playing at 48 that is a fantastic achievement and I hope this long continues.

Secondly Your comments nearly made me fall asleep, one thing to note is I would suggest all the rubbish you responded with is just your opinion and just to let you know your opinion is wrong. Simple nothing more to say

As per usual then. Come back with something that actually means something, and you bury your head in the sand. Way to go!! Perhaps if all the blockheads stop playing the namby pamby girlie rolling sub football game next year, those of us that are left will enjoy the games more?

They're not idiots, they're encouraging the participation in football. You can't come up with good reasons that's why.

The majority of negatives are easily dealt with by not using rolling subs.

Yes, all leagues are a competition but what do you get out of it at the end? A shiny medal but more importantly enjoyment. Football is about enjoyment, if you don't enjoy it, you don't play, that's why I stopped
