A large crowd enjoyed City's first outing of the season on Saturday and they were comfortable winners at the end of the day against a very strong and sometimes over physical Brislington side.

The Tigers started the game unchanged and with a point to prove after a below performance the week below, on a excellent surface Truro settled well but lost winger Scott Walker after a late tackle and although he received hospital treatment he was soon released.

It was Brislington who nearly took the lead on thirteen minutes when a shot hit the outside of the post, this however didn't stop City setting the tempo and the free flowing football continued to create chances for the lively pairing of Yetton and Watkins. The home team thought they should of been awarded a penalty on thirty minutes but referee Knowles waved play on,the first goal came on thirty four minutes when after a superb run by Watkins his pass found fans favourite Graeme Power to score his first goal for the club.

The second half was less then two minutes old when Vercesi went close with a header but it was that man Yetton who doubled the lead with a crisp cross shot after good work again from Watkins. City created several good chances again Yetton and Vercesi with Watkins also going close. The game was tarnished twelve minutes from time when Brislington's John Lock received a straight red for striking Tom Smith.

It has to be said that all thoughts that Truro might have a similar season to last has firmly been put to bed after the first two opening games, but they have adapted well and sit second in the table with a game in hand and now entertain Chard next Saturday with another healthy crowd expected.

Decent performance by Truro after a shaky start where they could easily have gone behind to a Brislington side which started very well - an early header hitting the post.

After 20 minutes the balance of the game changed and Truro eventually went ahead through Power, playing as a left wing back after Walker's substitution. This was created by Watkins after Vercesi had orignally surrendered possession.

The second too was created by Watkins for Yetton who as usual took the opportunity very well

Further chances were created but not taken against a physical side reduced to ten men after a poor reaction to a two footed lunge by Smith.

On a separate point I wonder if others have an opinion on the Truro system. My football knowledge and experience is signficantly inferior to Leonard's but I sometimes wonder if the 3-5-2 suits all of his players. It certainly doesnt get the best out of Gosling who would look better on the right of a midfield four and with Ash at right back, would provide a very strong and simulatenously attack minded right flank.

Also a flat back four would surely help to reduce the amount of possession lost at the back by providing more options to play the ball wide although this might mean sacrificing one of the very talented midfield three.

I certainly felt that it was worth trying this today when 2 up at home against 10 men.

Any thoughts?
