Trelawny League Results 21/01/12

Recommended Posts

Went to see Stithians reserves vs Four Lanes in Division 6.

Very windy day up at the Showground. Four Lanes had best of first half, but Stithians had the best of the second and should have sewn the game up but didnt take their chances. Four Lanes took the lead on the break with 15 minutes to go. STithains pressed and after hitting the bar twice equalised through Tom Furse.

Final score 1-1

Div 3

Culdrose 1-1 Fal Athletic (ht 1-0)

Scorers: Dean Goulding for culdrose, Paul Jeffery for athletic

A well contested game between the top 2, played in the usual Culdrose wind, finished with what i think was a fair result on the day. Culdrose missing a penalty in the 1st half, took the lead after a follow up from a free kick that we didnt clear quick enough, some good defending keeping the score to just 1 at the break with the wind behind culdrose. Athletic came out slow in the 2nd half, taking 10 mins to get any momentum going forward, when we did we managed to force the equaliser over the line after a goal mouth scramble. Neither side could force a winner leaving us both top of the table seperated only by goal difference and our unbeaten run going for another week at least

Culdrose 1 Fal Ath 1

Culdrose had so many more chances than Fal ath and played the better football, Culdrose deserved the win, What Fal did do well was close down the ball and give the culdrose players not alot of time on the ball, Felt like a defeat should of beat them. Missed a penalty and should of had atleast 1 more. Windy as fu*k aswell lol.

You did have more chances but that doesnt mean you deserved the win, you got a good side there but we dont give up until the final whistle, you handled the wind better than we did and played some good football, but we did what we do best and the result that is needed, we know we cant always play good football, so we grind the results out. And yeah was really windy, didnt help us that the wind changed direction at half time!

Good luck for the rest of the season, going to be tight at the top with us 2 and frogpool all close

div 2 helston 4 praze 2

scorline flattered helston really, 1st half it was all praze which was a surprise as we thought helston would be better than what they were,

the ref was below par as he gave a penalty for a fair challenge and gave praze nothing the whole game, helston have a great bunch of lads and should be walking this league but am really disapointed that we came away with nothing due to bad ref decisions, good luck bash and all at helston

In my opinion Redruth should have finished this game off early on in the 2nd half, but missed several chances, St Keverne kept on plugging away and got there rewards 3 minutes from time, giving Redruth a nervy last couple of minutes.

All the best to St Keverne for the rest of the season.

Div 6

Titans 1 Marazion 6

Marazion played against the wind 1st half, and created plenty of good chances still. However 2mins from halftime Titans took the lead.

Second half we came out determined to turn it around, and done just that. Six good goals, some very good saves from the Titans keeper and several attemps hitting the woodwork kept the score at 6.

Fair play to Titans, good bunch of lads with the right attitude to Saturdays, never gave up and stuck together.

Well done lads, Good win for Marazion today.Great team performance, But we've got to keep it going.

Well reffed, he kept himself to himself and tried to keep the game flowing.

definitely a game of two halves - Helston were very poor in the first half - off the pace and did not pass the ball well at all. Lucky to be only 2-1 down at half time but that said our goalie did not have that much to do for the first 45. Second half was a different story and you paid the price for not having a bigger lead with the wind - the penalty was contentious - some you get some you dont and it will balance itself out thru the season but once again Praze seemed to run out of steam and Helston were well on top in the second half and looked like the likely winners. Can understand your frustration with the ref but dont think he was that bad. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Division 4

Troon 3 St Buryan 4

Great result for the saints fully deserved. Played the first half with the wind and scores through a free kick from half way line to go in off the post by Dan Mitchell only for Troon to equalise bout ten minutes later. Second half against the wind we went 3-1 up with goals from Nick George and Treve Stevens only for them to pull another 2 goals back and equalise. Then came the moment that won us the match when a long throw in the box and a defence mix up led to them scoring an own goal. Every Buryan player should be pleased with themselves today a great display and great character.

Trelawny League Div. 3

Holman SC 2 .v. Penryn Res 6

Decent game of football at Blaythorne with Holman on top of the 'chances created' list but not the 'goals scored' list. Early exchanges were dominated by midfield until Penryn took ( frankly ) a surprise lead when their lad slid in at the back post. Holman rallied and took a 2-1 lead, firstly when Bevin Stone wellied in from 1 yard and secondly when Jordan Jackson equalled Penryns' first by sliding in himself at the back post. Neither side stamped any real authority on the game and we were guilty of ball rather than man watching when Penryn equalised, their lad had far too much time to take a touch and finish. The same lad then found some space down our right side and cut in to smash a superb looking 3rd but I'm sure will admit that he was looking to cross to the back post for Penryns' two on-rushing players. Half time and we were 2-3 down. We started the second half more determined and created plentiful chances but Penryns' fourth was a top drawer strike when they hit us on the break and after a short run their lad unleashed one from fully 25yds giving Nigel Hambly no chance. At 2-4 we had to push on to take something from the game but found the away 'keeper in great form. Jordan Jackson had a great shot saved following a deflection and Neil Anthony could only hit the crossbar with his follow up. We created various other chances but Penryn soaked up the pressure and added two further goals in the latter stages of the match. Our day was summed up in the last minute when we were awarded a penalty but the away 'keeper saved from Neil Anthony.

No time to dwell on this result and the perfect antidote could come next week when we face Penryn again at thier place.

Division 2

Madron 6 Cury 3

Cracking performance from my lads today, like chalk and cheese from last week. Great endeavour combined with some great finishing. Must give all 14 lads great credit, but must give Nathan Burt a special mention, although the goals might not be coming for him at the moment , 3 assists today and never stopped running and working hard for 90 minutes

Division 3

Threemilestone 1-8 Hayle

A few grumbles coming out of the Threemilestone camp in relation to the Hayle player who notched 5 of their goals yesterday...

If you're refering to dropping 1st team players down, everyone does it as Hayle 4ths found to their cost yesterday.

It is my understanding that the player in question does not ordinarily play for their 1st team. Not sure whether much can be done about it though.

Marazion deserved winners, we defended pretty much all game and our goalkeeper keeping us in the game. After going 1 up we were optimistic but marazion were far too good and after 60 mins of constant pressure we finally cracked and the flood gates opened. Big well done to marazion and hope you go on to win the league, but a bigger well done to titans who battled hard and still had a smile on their faces after the game. Great game all round

That was our boy Barney that scored 5 Joe , he signed for them last week .

Well that puts an end to that one. Surprised he's dropped down a couple of divisions; good player.

Trelawny Prem

Carharrack 1 (0) - (0) 1 Mawnan

I would say this was a game of two halves. Mawnan dominated the first half with not much action at there goal to be fair. Mawnan dominated with the ball and the wind behind them but never used this to there advantage, Mawnan created at best 3 chances in the first half with a brillant tackle from moyler and then i close range shot tipped over the bar by myself but they did have a goal disallowed for offside . Carharrack did have a chance of there own but Mawnan keeper made a good one on one save to keep the scoreline level. HT 0-0

the 2nd half was more carharrack and carharrack created little also to be fair. with the muddy conditions affecting the footballing side of the game. however carharrack missed a one on one and then was unlucky with a distance shot. mawnan did have a good chance with a very large goal mouth scramble going on for what seemed a lifetime but was about a mnute of tackles and putting bodies on the line but carharrack stayed resiliant. Then after Mr lee came on as sub and sparked some legs back into carharrack and opened up the mawnan side with a darting run , skipping past 5 players and rifling a 25 yard effort past the keeper in off the post. 1-0 Carharrack :clapper: . Mawnan then gambled late on with subs coming on but it was Kev Morris (i think) who leveled the game with a 18 yard shot taking a deflection off a turned up piece of mud sending the ball into the bottom corner 1-1.

i would like to thank the ref who was on holiday for doing the game he was very good i felt with advantage and being able to talk to him a real top job.

i would like to also thank mawnan for coming back to the clubhouse. i would also like to wish ollie all the best with his injury and a speedie recovery. :c:
