  1. Still think currently they would stay up. Won’t be swayed on that! They would pick pick up enough points at home over a season along with the odd away win. You say “one game” but I’ve watched them beat Man Utd 1-0, Barcelona 2-1, and an AC Milan team 2-1 with Seedorf, Kaka, and Pirlo in midfield and Shevchenko and Inzhagi up front in their prime over the last ten years alone. Saw the PSG game as well to be fair and they were outclassed but they did beat Barca 4-0 in the knockout rounds as well so no disgrace in that against a team that can spend over 300 million on 2 players!! Celtic have just sold a player to Southampton for 6 mill and he couldn’t get in the side last season! They’ve also got one of the best scouting systems in Europe. They would finish between 10th - 15th in the Premier league. Case closed 😀

Talking of stadiums RAPPO - I too have visited a number of them in Scotland. Very impressed. Even the lower leagues - I went to Annan Atheletic last season and saw them play Cowdenbeath. Great stadium at Annan, a long seated stand down one side of the pitch, good toilet and refreshment facilities. Well done Annan, they've spent the money and got a nice ground and the public are comfortable and well looked after.

Yeah been to Annan Keith, tidy little ground ain’t it mate. All decked out in black and yellow reminded me of Bickland Park!! 👍 I’ve only got 6 more league grounds to do up there now Keith! I’ll have to start on the Highland and Lowland leagues after that! Seen some great games up there over the years mate!! 👍

  3. Hi Darren, watched football all over Europe over the years, especially Holland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal bits in France and Cyprus and the top half of the Scottish Premiership can hold its own with most of it. Take the top four or five sides away from the top leagues obviously but the rest of the league I would say Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and the two Edinburgh teams would give most teams a game without doubt. All about opinions obviously but seen a lot of it and that’s mine. 👍

Hi Dave, tell Fred to get up there!! Reckon you two are still fit enough to have a great time mate! It’s like a big Cornwall!! Plenty of green up there! A few pitches up there that even you would be proud of!   👌   Get a bit of lovely Scottish air in your lungs! 👍

Not a chance could Celtic hold their own in the Premier League over a 38 game season. Great atmosphere, yes, especially in European games and old firm derbies but they would certainly struggle in the Premier League due to a severe lack of quality players required for that standard.

Yeah they would no problem. They drew at home to Man.City at Parkhead last season in the Champions league, didn’t see too many English teams doing that last season? Not saying they would compete at the top end of the table but they would get the 40 points needed to stay up over a 38 game season. Would say they are a better side than the likes of Huddersfield and Brighton who stayed up last season, been watching Celtic for about 15 years and quite a bit of Premiership football in that time, they would stay up no problem

Think Rooney has seen a few in his time Stevie!!! 👍😂

  5. Haha 😆 Celtic would be the only team who could hold their own in the Premier league Dave. Think they would get quite a few points at home. Would say the top half of the Premier league would compare to the Championship. Aberdeen, Hibernian, Hearts and possibly Motherwell on their day. The bottom half of the Prem more like league 1. Would say the likes of Dundee, Accies, Kilmarnock be on a par with Argyle. The Championship with the likes of Dundee Utd, Partick Thistle, Falkirk etc is more bottom end League 1/ League 2 standard. League 1 and 2 would be non league in England as its semi pro. Know the chairmen at Albion Rovers and Stirling Albion and the players are on £200-300 a week in those leagues Dave. Would say the tempo up there is faster and more physical in general but not quite as technical as England. Seen some cracking games up there over the years though mate 👍

  6. Yeah that’s not really Scottish football as a whole though Dave. I agree Celtic are 20 points better than anyone else in the Premier league but I’ve watched some really good matches up there in the lower divisions including the Highland and Lowland leagues and it’s really competitive. Clubs like Dundee United can’t get out the Championship and Rangers took a couple of attempts. It’s decent football and very physical, should take the mrs up there for a little holiday and have a look Dave, reckon you would be surprised at the standard mate 👍

  7. Great move for Cody Dave! The ground only 8 miles from the bro and sis in laws so will pop over and watch him next season. Tom Owen-Evans signed for Falkirk as well, half hour up the road. Both lovely little new stadiums, hope the lads do well, no more than Cody deserves after his performances last season. Watched a lot of Scottish football and I reckon he will do really well. Tom next maybe!? 🤔

  8. Like the new badge!! 👍. Glad the cathedral is back in, got to have that!! Always reminds me of home as I’m sure it does for any Truro boy. Promoting the Cornwall flag as well spot on when City are travelling all over the south of England 👍 Still not sure what a tiger has got to do with Truro though!?! 13 mile trek from Newquay zoo!! 😀 Think the club should “paws” on that one! 😂

  9. 15 years ago this September since the great man left us Mike. Hard to believe really, not a day goes by where he’s not in our thoughts. George Turbo Torrance does a great job arranging the fixtures for Daves tournament every pre season. Hope the clubs put out strong sides, Dave was a legend on and off the pitch, great to see his name live on in Cornish football 👌

  10. Think that might not just be a rumour!? Be a shame after the great job Macca did this season. Would have thought some great players be up for grabs for the vultures, young Cam Turner is improving all the time, a really silky midfielder and the talented Jack Bray-Evans who’s a match winner on his day. DannyO still a top player to have around any club on and off the pitch, great example and can still play a bit getting man of the match most weeks last season! Hope it is a rumour though and Macca stays and carries on the good work. Up the Peppermints 👍

  11. Well explained Dave!! I quite like the look of it if that’s the case. Think it might work better with less teams in the lower leagues with no floodlights, might not get the crazy fixture schedule that a lot of teams were faced with at the end of this season with our ridiculous wet winter we had. As Dave mentioned the Combo and ECPL leagues still look similar and competitive. Maybe promote 4 teams at the end of the Trelawny season to make both leagues up to 16. Give the chance for good clubs like Holmans and Goonhavern the chance to bounce straight back up with two others maybe? At first glance think it will work well, especially in the Premier league, lot of very good Cornish teams with good facilities these days including floodlights and to be honest it’s only missing Tavistock as Parkway were up anyway. 👍

  12. Following on after his career he had a son to make him very proud as well Tom. An inspiration to his team mates on and off the field who puts 100% into anything he does and my dads favourite player (centre halves club)! Cherish the memories mate 👍

  13. I’m still waiting patiently Sticker!!! There was talk of something at the end of last season but I know they are busy people at the County FA!! I did get an invite to last seasons Senior Cup final at Helston and the tea and choccy biscuits went down well 👍 I had 52 games for Cornwall over the years but there were no caps back then so I was secretly hoping for a Cornwall cap with maybe 2000 on it!?! 👌 Alas I live in hope! 😀️ Superb from Nick and Michelle, all that loyalty to one club over 3 decades is amazing 👏🏼👍❤️🖤

  14. Fergie, Wenger, now Nick!!! Bout 75 years service to one club between them!! Had the pleasure of playing for Nick for a couple of seasons after I stepped down from senior football. Enjoyed it every bit as much and had some great times! Echo all that’s been said by the lads, be surprised if we ever see the like of Nick and Michelle again to be honest. Lovely people, put in thousands of hours for the Frogs, unbelievable commitment!! Reckon we should all chip in and build a statue of them both just inside the gate at the Richard Jory Fields! 👌️ Absolute legends, hope you enjoy the rest on a Saturday Nick and Michelle, no one deserves it more 👍👌🏆👏🏼  Hope the Cornwall FA does a little something in recognition for two great people x

  15. Jarvo has brought through some really talented players in his time at Penryn, would like to know how many have gone on to be first team regulars? Always talks sense win or lose and can always see the bigger picture, liked his teams to play football the right way. No mean player in his day himself, will miss our Combo chats on a Saturday. All the best and enjoy the rest Jarvo! 👍👌

  16. Really enjoyed today!! Fantastic to see so many of the old Town faces in the crowd! Reckon there was about 300/400 there and about 50 from Tavi!! Thought the lads really deserved it, looked fit and lively and took the game to Tavi who I thought went ahead against the run of play when Town just switched off from a free kick. Superb volley from Jordy for the equaliser and when Luke blocked a clearance to see the ball fly in the net it was magic! Had the smile wiped off my face by Sullivan who hit a worldy to take the game to extra time though. Looked like Tavi might go on and win it from there dominating the first half of extra time but the boys dug in and we scored against the run of play this time just virtually before the half time of extra time whistle. A cock up at the back saw Jordy pounce to complete his hat-trick, thought he was a right old handful all game getting in behind their defence for two hours even when he was a bit isolated up top, some shift mate!!! 👌👍 Absolutely superb to see some of the F Troop legends at the game as well, making a right old racket second half, thanks to big Rick and the lads for singing a few old Rappo songs as well, made an old cripple very happy! Best days and memories of my life, thanks lads. 👏🏼😀👍 Massive congrats to Westy, Milchy and Charlie for putting that young side together and getting them to play like that, if I wasn’t here at work I would have had a couple shandies tonight! Falmouth boys that love the club and will always be remembered for today. That’s the end of my break but still smiling 9 hours later!! All roads lead to Bickland Park a wise man (and pissed up man) once said!!! 🏆💛🖤

  17. Great to see Town back in a final after such a long time, shows how spoilt we were all those years ago! Sort of took it for granted we would be in the finals at the end of the season even with all those good teams around back then!! Congrats to Westy and his superb back room boys and to the team, still a young side with plenty more finals in them if they stick together. Be difficult with all the vultures after a few of them, but looks like a great team spirit has been created which counts for an awful lot, hard for a player to walk away from that. Looking forward to the game, a tough ask to overcome a great Tavi team but a final is all on the day and I’m sure Wadebridge will have things looking perfect 👍. “Come on the Town” 🏆

  18. Would have been a different outcome if Wills shot went in for 3-0 instead of hitting the post or the shot Olly dragged just wide of the far post to make it 3-1. Fine margins but the boys will all come out of it better players with all those top blokes and coaches around them. Regardless an excellent 3 years from Hoops and the team with some very talented boys coming through who will have learnt a lot carrying them forward. Well done to Dave for the commentary and Mark and Piran films for all the great coverage the lads have enjoyed particularly over the last couple of seasons. Excellent work all round 👍

  19. Sitting on the beach here in Cyprus with a bit of time on my hands (not saying I’m bored or anything, I’ve been harpooned by green peace twice already 😂 ) reading an article in this months World Soccer mag about VAR. Not sure the World Cup is ready for that yet but it got me thinking what has been the best rule change over the years? For me it’s been the back pass rule, good one if you’re a striker but more importantly keeps the game flowing! Remember being a kid in the early eighties and my dad trying to explain tactics to me, used to do my head in teams a goal up with 5 or 10 to go passing back to the keeper, him picking it up, rolling it out to full backs back on the corner flags and then them passing it back to him!! Remember Ray Clemence being really good at it! Or was it just annoying cos it was Liverpool doing it and they were winning everything back then! Be interested to know people’s favourite change if you’re a bit bored as well? 👍

  20. Hampton have lost just once in their 20 home league games this season although 10 of those games have been draws which would suit City just fine!!! 👍 Think Braintree will get the job done at home to Gloucester although pressure does do funny things to teams sometimes!? Think City could do with a little favour off Bath to spoil St.Albans chances!! Be funny if it was Andy Watkins that got the all important goal to give City a hand!? Just a thought? Over to you Watto!!! 👍
