WHO is Ben Andros? The Saga Continues

Recommended Posts

At last this big West Cornwall news story has been explained to the layman by way of todays West Briton and This is Cornwall online.

I feel the CCFA would welcome Constantine to progress to the Final in next Wednesdays replay,

as quite a number of people must be holding back with the information and it would only take a small disagreement within the club for some one to give the full explanation.

I wouldn't drop any one for the replay !

I presume there would be an address on the signing on form to follow up?

Anyway a good plug for the Cornish Soccer Forum in the press- 6000 'fever pitched' hits

WHO is Ben Andros?

That is the burning question being asked in one of the biggest mysteries to hit Cornish amateur football in recent years.

It all started back in November when Falmouth Athletic had a player sent off in a Falmouth/Helston Division One fixture against Mousehole.

But it wasn't until February, when Falmouth faced Troon in an important Junior Cup West semi-final, that the identity of the player red carded came into question. Falmouth won the game 6-4.

Troon were led to believe that the player was Ben Ambrose, but when the suspension was listed on the Cornwall FA's website, a player called Ben Andros was named as the suspended player following a successful appeal by Falmouth.

It meant Andros would miss the semi-final clash with Troon on February 2 and Ambrose would be available to play.

Falmouth manager Kevin Toy insists Andros was a registered player and that it was him, as the FA's suspension list stated, who was banned for the Troon game.

Troon manager Anthony Reynolds has since made thorough investigations in his pursuit of discovering if Andros does exist.

These have included a written letter to the CCFA, checked through phone books, electoral rolls and on the internet.

But none has proved fruitful.

It was even suggested that Andros had been working at Falmouth Docks and had since moved to Southampton to start a new job.

Reynolds revealed he made a phone call to the Docks, and that they had no recollection of a person by the name of Andros ever working there.

The CCFA have responded by insisting Troon's allegations that Andros does not exist "have no substance."

Interest in this saga has reached fever pitch on internet message boards – the Cornwall Soccer Forum has received almost 6,000 hits.

Falmouth manager Kevin Toy believes it is 'sour grapes' on Troon's part and insists the club are not guilty of any wrongdoing.

"As far as I am aware the CCFA have taken all the facts and there is nothing else to discuss," insists Toy.

"Ben Andros was with us for six weeks and I think in that time he turned up three times. It's very easy for us to sign players and when the signing-on forms were passed about, Ben (Andros) filled one out."

Cornwall FA secretary Barry Cudmore said in a statement issued yesterday: "We received a complaint from Troon FC about Falmouth Athletic fielding an ineligible player in their Westinsure Cornwall Junior Cup tie.

"We have investigated the matter and found that there were no ineligible players playing for Falmouth Athletic.

"Troon FC made further allegations which, after investigation, were again not upheld. We have been in communication with both clubs over this matter and have already explained the results of our investigations to Troon FC in great detail. Therefore, we now consider the matter closed."

Mike, its a complete and utter cover up. The CCFA will not be seen to go against their own verdict when they over-turned the original red card. Even if someone from the club did come out and admit the "truth" they still would not take it seriously unless it was from someone senior ie management or secretary( and we all know that aint gonna happen!)

Shame that people are so desperate to win a trophy that they will stoop to these levels. Shame that the powers that run football in our county have not got the balls to actually admit they got it wrong and got the wool pulled over their eyes.

Shame the Troon boys have been cheated out of a decent cup final, shame the Tine boys have had their day over shadowed by this and a shame the Athletic boys wont get the recognition they deserve should they win the trophy. Knowing a lot of them they are decent guys and a good team, thankfully for them it looks like it wont be ruined with one or two individuals greed for personal glory.

And yes their is an address section on all forms. But as he has now moved to Outer Mongolia and with no Vodafone signal there no-one can get hold of him.

Heard he had the game streamed live to his villa in Mongolia where he is seeking exile and writing his memoirs with a ghost writer, beleived to be someone from the West Briton. In this he will reveal all the sordid secrecy surrounding the incident. Expect the serialization in the West Briton, who outbid the Sun and Mirror, in the Autumn!!

Ridiculous, thats the only way to some up this saga. Someone at the ccfa should be made to explain what on earth has gone on. Poor mr andros, if he exists, has had his name dragged through the mud for long enough. Somewhere there has been some wrong doing, and there should be some sort of punishment dished out. After all there are several teams in junior football with considerable point deductions, for matters that pale into insignificance alongside the andros debarkle. Sort it out please Mr Cudmore.

I understand that Gillo, it was just a turn of phrase to say this has dragged on for way too long, and that someone should really stand up and admit responsibility for something that has tarnished the biggest cup in cornish junior football. Whether it be the ccfa or someone at falmouth athletic, either way there are hundreds of people interested in the answer to Androsgate!!!

This one should be an easy one to solve :-

Get the ref to describe Ben Andros, check the address on the forms and go to that address and investigate further.

or

Get the Falmouth players to describe him if as suggested above he turned up 3 times in 6 weeks then someone will know what he looks like.

Do the Mousehole players/officials remember 2 Ben's playing against them in that game?

SNEAKY!!!!!

they are correct.....there was no ineligible players.....as they over turned the red card, but did Falmouth appeal against the red card correctly?? no they didnt, it was done over the phone!! to hide the fact that the CCFA had made a complete and utter **** up!!and to coved up the sending off, they made up a name simular to ben ambrose to not arouse too much suspicion, signed him on promptly, then falmouth agreed to pay a fine for "ben andros" to make it all above board,...........CCFA have hid there emmbarrassment, falmouth have got thier way!!!!! when did ben andros sign on for falmouth ath?? would it suprise many people if it was pretty close to the Mousehole game where a player got send off?!! i think not! one rule for one, one for another, Ludicrous!! and i cant believe no one else higher has worked this out!!

So there is someone called Ben Andros who came to Falmouth for 3 - 6 weeks

1) No family ties in the area

2) Didnt have a job in the area

3) Isnt at the univercity and/or colleges

4) Didnt stay anywhere in the area

5) Didnt meet anybody in the area

I know Falmouth is a nice place but the above would make it tricky to believe the story.

Im surprised Barry at St Austell has had the wool pulled over his eyes this blatently.

Ive managed to do a bit of research and have discovered that Ben Andros has a mother

murdershewrote.jpg

Jessica Fletcher the great crime writer would often bowl into a town and disappear.

Also he has pet

hoborock.jpg

The littlest Hobo, he used to do a similar thing to Jessica fletcher but in a canine sort of way.

So hopefully the above helps prove that just because someone appears not to exist and doesnt leave any trail then they do....................Honest! Universal Studios are in talks to make this the next big thing.

The all star cast could be

Ben Andros as himself

Mother as Jessica Fletcher

Beloved Pet as Littlest Hobo

Super Mario as Toyer

kris kringle as Barry Cudmore

Who else would everyone have in this feature length......????

ps On a slightly lighter note, Kfc is moving into the cathedral city of Truro at the old spar shop on the piazza. As one of there best customers I keep in the know!

Good gracious, I seem to be agreeing with Gillo and J.Miller !

So what kind of protest has been organised for the Junior Cup Final, Cloughy ? Looks like you could attract a record crowd of demonstrators....that would be revenue for CCFA as well ! You could organise a good coachload or two from Troon/Camborne area and there must be somebody who would sponsor a couple of barrels of beer to get the journey lubricated. There are certainly folks from a few other clubs who would be up for the craic ! How about it, Cloughy ? Time to stand up for the good name of Troon !

I'll be there !

No, you can't appeal a red card by phone !

I take it then in the semi final against Troon, this Ben Ambrose scored all 6 goals, was the greatest player on earth and made the Troon players look like bambi on ice ! !

As the old cliche goes, one player doesn't make a team and Falmouth would have ran out worthy winners anyway!

Look its Andros ! :ninja:
