Good contest between Wendron and Ludgvan today. I thought the home side deserved to take the three points although after they missed a couple good chances, I did wonder if they had missed the opportunity! Steve Brewer (below right) instrumental in both goals - scoring the first and then getting the vital header down towards goal for the second.

Helston are slowly building a side that in time I hope will be up there challenging for the league but for us it's about establishing ourselfs back in the combo first. I would like to say a big thankyou to Troon today a great bunch of lads with actually a pitch that easily playable and is probably better than a lot of surfaces we will on this season, you can see the players and members of there club do there best and give there all to improve there club and that you can see they care!! good luck for the rest of the season lads!! And got to say the ref had a great game!! COYB!

Had the pleasure of watching a few old mates at St.Just play at Redruth Utd today for 45 minutes and i must say what a fantastic job everyone at Redruth has done to bring the bottom pitch at Clijah up to scratch to play combo football. When Darren started the club all those years ago i bet even he could not imagine the force they are today. Would love them to get a Bodmin or a St.Austell in the senior cup down there this season. It was a nice sunny afternoon, good game of football and the wind was blowing through my grey hair!! Also a quid ten for a cup of tea and a mars bar is well worth a return visit this season while im out with a crippled knee. The first player to catch the eye was a little flying winger for Redruth, Dan McInerney? running with pace and quick feet at defenders. i think he would have had a field day most weeks if he wasnt up against quality defenders and old teammates of mine, Rob Troon, Lee Patchett, and Darren Ball who can all still play a bit to say the least. The next player i hadnt seen before but had heard about him on the forum in the week was a big tall blond 6 foot 4 striker Ben Beezley? .Quite nippy with decent feet for a big lad I think you will hear more about him during the coming combo season!! Bit of an edge to him which could work in his favour if he keeps it under control, be a handful for any defence. The opening goal came after 19 minutes, a cracking 30 yard strike from Moha Imichichi giving stand in keeper Neil Stephens no chance,it was a goal even Rod on the line could not find a reason to disallow!! (only joking rod!) :-} Was chatting to Neil soon after from my leaning against the car listening to talksport same time vantage point behind the goal when he raced out and saved well with his feet just before half time! Sorry mate! Good to see Steve Curnow in the new impressive dug outs still managing the Saints after all these years and hardly looks a day older! The Arsene Wenger of the combo league!! Think these two teams are in for good seasons, the saints had a few missing including playmaker Neil Curnow to pair up in the midfield with the experienced John Bird and always plenty of goals in the team with Darren Steadman up front who went on to score the equaliser in the second half apparantly. I had met the boy and his mates at Treyew Road by then and was watching Truro unluckily slip to a narrow defeat but enjoyed a nice afternoon of footie and witnessed four good teams today!!!

Thanks for your kind words mark we have worked hard during the summer on our pitch at clijah and are delighted with the outcome,I thought 1-1 was a fair result in the end we were the better side in the first half and I felt st just were the better side in the 2nd half getting the equaliser and forcing a penalty save from barrie wyatt .All in all a good competitive game of football with two teams having a beer together after which is always good to see.....best of luck to steve and his st just team. :c:

Glad to see that someone has correctly reported this as a great save not a poor miss!

Well would love to think liam was part of the team all season lol but I'm lucky to have an agreement with St Austell that I have Liam at my disposal when St Austell don't have a fixture plus Liam being a local lad to the Blues he is happy to be part of our squad when available! As for anyone else would say Helston are lucky to have teams that are very much united and any player is happy to step up or step down from any of are three teams and do there best for the "club" So yes along with are very exciting bunch of youngsters coming through the ranks they are part of building a competitive team for now and the future!

Hayle0-4 Falmouth reserves 2-0 half time Dave Dodson reffed really wel. With some common sense decisions , Falmouth midfield dominated first half and with dom pulled up front always looked a threat , hayle played better than tue night but were not a match for Falmouth , overall Falmouth deserved the win , but we had patches of play , looks like a bit off a struggle at present for hayle , the two Andy's needs a bit of luck and players available to pick up some points , onwards to Tuesday night home thank god , perhaps a result is just around the corner

Yes Postman!!! Knew I forgot something in the middle of the night on my lunch break!! Mark (Charlie) Philpott was the ref. Outstanding as usual, would never be a problem if every ref officiated and interacted with the players like Charlie does, top class mate!

Went to watch St Agnes v Penryn, 2-0 up at half time and thats the way it finished. Could and probably should have been more with St Agnes wasting lots of good chances. Penryn are an extremely young side and would certainly be the lightest side in the league (if you took away Thommo). St Agnes played well though and made some good chances, good blend of youth and experience.

Nice to hear Alun Rundle on the side lines warning his own players about the bad language that was being used. Needn't have bothered with Reeksy refereeing as he can't be arsed with non football stuff like that.
