A superb come back from the home team earned them a place in the second round of the cup this year. After 10 minutes, Padstow were 2-0 up and cruising but Newlyn then simply 'clicked!' They had chances to cut the deficit before half time but it remained at 2 nil. In the 2nd half Chris Symon scored his 1st goal of the season and soon after the visitors scored an og. 10 minutes from the end and Chris Symon scored 2 more to get his hat trick and a place in round 2 of the cup. A game played in excellent spirits and very well reffed.

Foxhole 4 LC Phoenix 1

Foxhole deserved this for two significant reasons. They took their chances well and had more players on the field who wanted to battle for the points today. Phoenix started brightly enough but a disappointing 25 minutes in the game saw them go in at half time four goals down. The alumni team played much better in the second half with Nathan Cox earning the consolation goal from the penalty spot.

The White Hart Hotel Man of the Match award: Darren Webber- played with the desire lacking in too many other Phoenix players.

Game abandoned about 15 mins into second half after an incident involving the referee requiring emergency services to be called out.

Referee is fine and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

16 year old Bryn Sturdy proving to be the match winner with his first competitive goal in a tight game. Grampund piled the pressure on in the 2nd half but Bodmin held firm to take the points.

JJ JONES DUCHY FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Godolphin Atlantic’s poor start to the season continued with a 4-0 home defeat to Biscovey in a first round KMD Developments KO Cup tie. Godolphin were not at the races as Jimmy Penhall scored a brace with Lee Budge and Matt Starkie-Old scoring a goal apiece.

Callington caused an upset last season winning the League Cup but this season promoted into the KO Cup they created an even bigger surprise beating Premier side Pelynt 5-4. Kieran Prescott scored a brace for Callington with Steve Bromhead, James Pascoe and Kevin Pethick completing the home tally. Pelynt replied with an Anthony Harman brace and goals from Nathan Smallman and Liam Jones. The game ended in frantic action with the hosts hanging on for a famous win.

Pensilva shaded a seven goal thriller with Mevagissey to progress to the second round of the Bodmin Sports Trophies League Cup. Ryan Morcom gave Mevagissey a first half lead with Aaron Lane hitting back to level. Andy Cobb then put the hosts ahead before the break. A second from Morcom restored parity after the restart. Lamin Marenah scored twice for Pensilva in the second half with Dan Brady getting a goal for Mevagissey in between as a tense game ended 4-3 to Pensilva.

Wadebridge Town put in a spirited performance at home to higher division Lifton but exited the cup 0-5. Dan O’Donovan scored a brace with Garion Clark, Ryan Hancock and Ed Horn adding a goal apiece. A learning curve for Wadebridge but promise was shown.

St.Newlyn East reserves came from two down at half time to beat Padstow United reserves 4-2 in the first round of the Reserve Team Cup. Wayne Stidwell scored two first half goals to give the visitors a comfortable advantage going into the break. Newlyn fought back very well after the restart. Chris Symons scored a hat trick with Padstow also putting through their own net.

Padstow remain unbeaten at the top of the Premier Division after beating Lostwithiel 2-0. Darren Roose scored from the penalty spot with Kevin Murt scoring the second.

Looe Town added to their impressive start with a 2-1 victory over St.Stephen. Matt Barton and Jay Fisher scored for Looe with Richard Iveson putting through his own net for the visitors reply.

Lamerton playing their first Duchy game of the season followed up last week’s Devon Intermediate Cup win with a 3-1 defeat of North Petherwin. Paul Breyley, Blair Vanstone and James Steer scored for Lamerton with Callum Reeves replying.

St.Columb Major took a 6-1 home drubbing from St.Dominick. Tom Ball scored the home consolation.

St.Mawgan lead the way in Division One. They beat Edgcumbe 4-2 with Aaron Bicknell scoring a brace and Stuart Harris and Chris Leach completing the home tally.

St.Minver stay second as goals from Corey Cleave and Steve Wootton gave them a 2-1 win at St.Cleer who replied with a Dylan Thompson goal.

Foxhole scored four goals in the opening twenty-five minutes at home to LC Phoenix. Jamie Robinson hit a hat trick with Sam Leaney adding their other goal. Phoenix came out flying after the break and pulled one back through a Nathan Cox penalty. Foxhole eventually regained their composure but couldn’t add to the 4-1 score-line.

Steve Capeling gave Premier Sixes the lead with a dipping twenty-five yard volley at home to Altarnun. Sixes couldn’t add to their fine start and conceded an equaliser when they were on top. Steve Sparkes restored their lead with a fine solo goal before half time and Dan Woodgate scored twice in the last ten minutes to complete a 4-1 victory.

Bryn Sturdy scored the only goal as AFC Bodmin beat Grampound 1-0.

Calstock were on top form in the Division Two match with St.Neot thrashing the visitors, hitting six without reply. It could have been different for St.Neot missed a first half penalty, but from then on Calstock played really well. Jan Humphrey hit a hat trick with Ashley Pollard, Rickie Williams bundling the ball over the line and Mikey Brown completing the rout.

Gerrans & St.Mawes United drew three all with Gunnislake. Nick Webb, Charlie Andrew and Josh Kendal scored for Gerrans with Glen Tremblett, Kieran Jasper and Andy Payne replying for Gunnislake.

Holywell/Cubert Athletic were 4-0 up on Packhorse Athletic but lost concentration to see the visitors hit back with three goals. Holywell recovered and ran out 7-3 winners. Paul Romback, Aaron Murphy Josh Busby from twenty yards, James Nettleton, Lee Mann (2) and Simon Holmes for Holywell. Packhorse replied through Phil Roberts, Neil White and Keith White.

North Hill won 4-2 at Stoke Climsland. Jason Venning, Chris Rockell, Dan Gregory and James Bloomfield scored for North Hill with Ben Jeffery and Blaine Sperring replying for the home team.

Veryan are the new leaders of Division Three. Martin Bishop and Andy Pearce scored the goals in a 2-0 defeat of St.Breward. This was a decent game where the visiting keeper kept the score down with five remarkable saves as Veryan were unable to turn their domination into goals. St.Breward were reduced to ten men near the end but battled well throughout.

North Petherwin reserves returned to winning ways winning a good game with Tregony 3-2. Paul Chidley headed the hosts in front. Simon Matthews equalised, but Andi Sleeman restored the home lead. Harry Willshaw who troubled the hosts all match scored Tregony’s second equaliser, but Sleeman volleyed his second late on to give Petherwin a 3-2 victory. Experienced referee Marc Oldaker had a fine game.

St.Stephen reserves stay rooted to the bottom. They lost 3-0 at home to Boscastle. Sam Haddy put the visitors ahead from a 40^th minute penalty and Jake Dickinson doubled the score with a shot to the left corner. St.Stephen fell asleep at a short corner and Jamie Burnett capitalised to score the third.

Lanivet Inn remain with a 100 percent record after Rob Marks scored the only goal of their game at Queens Rangers.

Tintagel won their first game. Adam Price scored twice in the 2-1 defeat of Gorran with Steve Rodda replying.

The Grampound reserves and St.Cleer reserves match was abandoned early in the second half when veteran referee Dave Martin was badly shaken and taken to hospital after being caught up in an accidental clash with two players. The game was goalless at the time with both teams very concerned for the referee’s well-being.

Delabole and Lanreath reversed their Division Four game owing to a clash with the Senior Cup with Delabole claiming a 2-0 win. Dean Favreau and Glen Burrell were the scorer’s.

Rame Peninsula, currently homeless, switched their game with Tregrehan Mills to Par Track and scored a fine 1-0 win. They went ahead in the 15^th minute through Zack Rosen after a decent through ball opened up the home defence. Rame were much the better side for the opening twenty-five minutes before the home side gained a foothold. The second half was virtually all Tregrehan but they could not break down a resolute defence.

Mike Shearer led the rout with a hat trick as St.Merryn overran Pelynt reserves 9-2 away from home. Adam Bennett added a brace with Josh Dark, Lewis Canfield, Anthony Murt and Luke Worrall completing the visitor’s total. Ryan Oxley and Steve Sharpe scored the home consolation goals.

Godolphin Atlantic reserves won 2-1 at St.Minver reserves. Kevin McHugh and Harri Tilston scored for Godolphin with Luke Henderson pulling one goal back.

St.Dennis Reserves made it five wins out of five in Division Five after their 3-1 success over St.Teath. Nathan Hugh. Jordan Vercoe and Jack Peat were the home scorer’s.

Kilkhampton won 5-0 at Roche. After an even start to the game Kilkhampton took the lead in the 20th minute from a free kick neatly curled high into the net. Kilkhampton rallied from here and added a second following a spell of pressure. Roche came back into the game as the first half wore on but couldn't make any pressure pay. The second half started even once again but a third Kilkhampton goal with 25 minutes to go effectively sealed the game for the visitors. Real Saltash picked up a first win. Wayne Skeldon scored a brace with Paul Shannon adding another goal in a 3-1 defeat of Saltash United reserves.

Tregony actually scored inside 10 seconds, straight from kick off. Amazing stuff. Good game both had chances to win it but I think Petherwin deseved the points if anyone did. good game.

Big thank you to Tregrehan Mills today for rearranging our game so we could play at theirs. We all at Rame Peninsula would like to also wish the defender who suffered a nasty injury all the best in his recovery.
