SWPL west :

Wadebridge 1-2 St Dennis

(S. Gherkin) (C.Ricks, M.Sleeman)

Wind ruined would could have been potentionly a cracking game tonight. Both teams did try to play football, but at times proved to be very hard. Saints took the lead on around the 25 minute mark, with Carl Rickard picking the ball up wide on the right, turning and chipping the ball over Wadebridge keeper Ben Hurst, into the top left hand corner.

Bridgers responded very well with Liam dingle being a huge threat all game. It was his corner the produced wadebridge's equaliser on 35 minutes, when he picked out Danny O'hagan and his header back across goal was well saved by stand in keeper Neil Mitchell, only to be palmed in the air leaving Sam Gherkin to knod in from 3 yards.

HT 1-1.

2nd half was a little bit scrapper, with set pieces and long balls into the saints box from wadebridge proved to cause all sorts of problems for the St Dennis for 4. Wadebridge should have taken the lead on a couple of occasions with great chances wasted.

It was the away side though who took their chance, with a long pump up field by saints skipper David Rickard, got flicked on by Striker Lee Rickard and fell into the path of Martin Sleeman, who rounded the keeper to tap in from 6 yards. 1-2 saints.

With some superb defending St Dennis managed to see the game out, and hold on the a very scrappy 3 points. A draw probably a fair result tonight, but nice to see some luck actually going in our favour. 9 wins in our last 9 league games now takes us top. What a league this has turned out to be this season.

Hopefully wadebridge's fortunes can change and they can start picking us some wins, good luck to them for the rest of the season. ?⚽️
