Great attitude

Teams only moan when the referee is biased/doesn't see high and late challenges/and can't be bothered to be there (which 2 refs have actually said to us in our first two games out of three !) Most teams have respect and admiration for the job that referees do on a Saturday, giving up their afternoon for the love of the game. And there are a lot of very good referees out there but there is the minority that can't be bothered and basically just turn up to get their 25/35 quid. There will soon be an instance where a player breaks his leg/ankle etc where the referee does not or want, or have a control on the game. Who is to blame then ? It is hard to recruit new referees and the job in hand is a tough one, but I think we need a lot of new and young referees to come in.

Green Matador, You are so wrong it`s unbelievable, out of the last 4 games I have had 3 where they were a pleasure to officiate on, but 1 where it was constant moaning from one side several cautions plus the problem team manager did not even speak to me after the game, now I can assure you my game / approach to the game was no different to all my other appointments and I certainly do not do it for the money and in all honesty i do not know of any official who does it for the money ( i am not saying there are not any) Also we need new referee`s of any age, young referee`s are not the golden fleece so to speak. As to control of the game think on this, a referee only has the amount of control that the players allow him to have !. If a player wants to go out on a match day and kick crap out of his opponents there is nothing a referee can do.

Sorry but can't agree with the end part, of course a referee can stop a player who just wants to kick crap out of his opponents, thats why you take a little whistle and two little cards, one yellow and one red, "SIMPLES"

But my point was the cards come after the event and there is nothing you can do until after it has happened, as far as I am concerned the red or yellows would be straight out, unless of course some referee`s have fortune telling capabilities and will be able to forsee any incident. Also as a referee I am not afraid to use any amount of cards be it red or yellow if the situation requires.

A valid point

What about these defenders in the box who grab oppositions shirts/torso to ensure they do not get a head on corners etc, surly this has to stop? One ref (mark clattunfella?!) gave a pen for this I think last season, nothing from any ref since...?! A foul throw was given in one of the opening games this season, I haven't seen one given since although I have seen a few dozen taken, where's the consistency at the top? How can you expect young officials to get things right at our level if they're not implemented at the very top?

Its a game boys, play in the spirit of it NOT the regulation of it....then enjoy it.

Foul throws, throws given the wrong way, shoulder barge, and so on , all minor infringements that don't mean diddly in the great scheme of things - get on with it.

Tell you what, when you as a player do not make a mistake, then, and only then, can you berate the referee because he didn't see it the same way you did.

B Manning I am not wrong. I never slated you as a ref and our club has had you officiate a couple of our games with no complaint. My comment of referees saying that they are only there to get paid were the words that came out of their mouths. Their words not mine. Choose to believe it or not but when they said it I was in shock, but looking at the refereeing that followed that quote it was beleivable. Not even interested. I have the upmost respect for referees and so does my whole team, and always make a point of speaking to the referee before and after the game and giving them the a lot of respect throughout the game. I am just saying about the minority that I have come in contact with over the years. And it is a minority.
