  1. So frustrating today. At 9am the pitch was ready to go. By 11am we had puddles everywhere. On Tuesday we host St Dominick v Mousehole. Good Friday we welcome Saltash to Blaise Park.
  2. St Blazey Res 0v0 Foxhole. Att.162 A good crowd for tonight's top of the table clash which was declared on after a late inspection. Still all to play for at the top of the league.
  3. These clubs are paying out good money to players. Sponsors are advertising at the grounds, match sponsors paying good money etc. Playing behind closed doors I doubt is even an option unless a club is absolutely loaded. And there ain't many of them around.
  4. St Blazey v Brixham is ON. Kick off 7.45pm. Come along and enjoy some local football under the Blaise Park lights. RESULT - St Blazey 1-3 Brixham Luke Cloke with the goal for the Green & Blacks
  5. Newquay 3v6 St Blazey. Att.64 H.C. St Blazey 2 up in the first half but Newquay level at the break. St Blazey back in front in the second half but Newquay level again soon after. St Blazey scored a good 4th goal to go back in front and two late goals finished Newquay off. Pitch looked in great condition and after the game still looked in great condition despite the recent weather. 👏 St Blazey away to Boscastle on Saturday.
  6. Most Cornish clubs have a first team and a second team which means their home ground is used every weekend already. Local clubs are not going to ditch their 2nd team to accommodate Truro City and rightly so.
  7. Yes, possibly a few heavy legs after a tough game on Wednesday. On another day we see the game out easily. Two bits of skill and quality did us today.
  8. St Blazey 2v3 Street. Att.162 Well there is the highs and lows of football for you once again. And proof that the Western league is very competitive. St Blazey one up early on. Had a couple more chances but didn't take them. Street equalised before half time. 1v1 at the break. St Blazey much better second half. Looked much more like it. Much better going forward. St Blazey then earnt a penalty which Newton scored to make it 2v1. Street than equalised with one of the best crosses I've seen at Blaise Park in many years. Hit from the touch line right into the box at pace and the Street striker nodded home from probably six yards out. Street then scored in the dying minutes after a brilliant cross field ball out the right found a Street player who cut inside and curled his shot into the far corner of the net. Harsh on St Blazey but have to give Street credit, that was the best performance from an away side this season. Played some good football throughout. Also, it was nice to chat with the Street manager after the match. Very complimentary of our management and took time out chatting with St Blazey supporters. Next up, Millbrook away next Saturday.
  9. St Blazey 4v1 Falmouth Town. Att.330. A brilliant second half for St Blazey. I didn't see that coming. The second half was brilliant to watch, Falmouth just couldn't get out their own half at times. Clokey with a brilliant finish for his second goal. Top class. The three games with Falmouth this season have seen both sides scoring 5 goals each. A good stat, and one our managers and players should be proud off, we currently have the second best home record in the league. Won 8, drawn 1, lost 3. Of those three defeats two have been 0v1 defeats and they were against Helston and Clevedon. Only Buckland have won by more 0v3. Blaise Park has become a bit of a fortress which is great to see. If we can find the winning formula away from home......look out. Street at home on Saturday.
  10. Clevedon away was easier and quicker to get to than Ilfracombe. Clevedon is just off the M5. Easy drive where as Ilfracombe is a long old drove on really poor roads.
  11. Ilfracombe 1v0 St Blazey. Att.68 including 20 away fans. Sam Clifton booked in the first half for kicking the ball away. It was knocked back a yard at best. Later in the half, St Blazey awarded a free kick, loose ball smashed away yet no yellow card. St Blazey, although it was 0v0 had Ilfracombe camped in their own half until Clifton then stuck a leg out trying to intercept a ball and caught a Ilfracombe player. Second yellow and the game completely changed. Ilfracombe scored late on to take the 3 points. 3 points dropped, let alone 1. Frustrating day. Falmouth home on Wednesday. Kick off 7.45pm.
  12. St Blazey Res 3v4 Mousehole Res. Att.91 A brilliant cup tie under the Blaise Park lights. Mousehole raced into a two goal lead, St Blazey pulled one back and in no time Mousehole were 1v4 up before the break and cruising to victory. Mousehole two quick and St Blazey not defending well enough. What happened at half time will remain a mystery. St Blazey scored early on to make the scoreline a bit easier on the eye. Suddenly the slick passing was no more and St Blazey were stronger in the tackle and quicker to every ball. With chances coming and going, St Blazey made it 3v4 to give themselves a real chance. Mousehole just couldn't get out their own half. St Blazey looked quicker, and lively. The Mousehole goalkeeper was busy, making a good save from a header at the near post and then from a free kick. St Blazey just couldn't get the equaliser which in the end they fully deserved for their efforts but Mousehole hung on to go through. After the first half, you just couldn't see that being the case. That's why we love football, the unpredictable things that happen. Good luck to Mousehole. St Blazey back in league action on Saturday when they face Nanpean at Blaise Park.
  13. St Blazey 2v1 Barnstaple Town. Att.162 St Blazey continued their perfect start to 2024 making it 3 wins from 3 (First time ever at this level) against a Barnstaple side who went into the match having only lost one match all season. George Newton opened the scoring with a neat finish in the first half. St Blazey made it two in the second half after good from Downing down the right and he smashed the ball across goal for Smale to poke home from close range. Barnstaple pulled one back in the dying moments. St Blazey can now look forward to the trip to North Devon on Saturday when we face Ilfracombe. Let's hope they have some electric this time round. 😂 Good to see Rappo there yesterday and get a copy of his book. Look forward to reading that. 📚 👍
