10 minute video highlights of the AFC St Austell v Ascot United

Recommended Posts

If you've not seen them already I have posted the highlights to my blog page that you'll need to scroll down or navigate across to after you've hit my home page www.piranfilms.com

This is a long montage (hope you like that Tom Trust!) and I need to get reaction re. my bandwidth. Does it work for you OK?

Fantastic day yesterday. Now I'll start working on the full DVD.

OK. This is the first time I have uploaded a 10 minute video onto my website. I will get in touch with Wistia the platform I use and see if I have enough bandwidth for what is a high volume surge of interest. It might be better to watch it at a quieter time. It may be that you need to be patient and let it buffer. If all else fails, I will upload it to YouTube.

Piran: I've just watched the video and have to say it's very impressive. I enjoyed it very much. It was very professional and I particularly enjoyed the behind the goal camera for the replays!! I was trying to get to the game but due to work commitments I couldn't! Absolutely fantastic result! Well done Lilly Whites. I have to ask though...... To the people who were there: did the keeper have two hands on the ball for the last goal? It really looked likes it from the video?

I have just watched the video again at 9.55pm and it worked after 5 seconds of buffering. So it might be timing or it could be speed of internet. I don't have super fast by the way.

I thought the ruling was that it would be a foul if the keeper had the ball off the ground, but I am going back decades with this view. The goalie yesterday appeared to have had both hands on the ball but the ball was on the ground as far as I can see from the video. Thanks for the helpful feedback.

The best info off the internet I could fine regarding the goal keeper 2 hand rule was: The goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball when the ball is held with both hands, held by trapping the ball between one hand and any surface (e.g., the ground, a goalpost, the goalkeepers body), or holding the ball in the outstretched open palm. Once established, possession is maintained, when the ball is held as described above, while bouncing the ball on the ground or throwing it into the air. Possession is given up if, after throwing the ball into the air, it is allowed to hit the ground. For purposes of determining goalkeeper possession, the handling includes contact with any part of the goalkeepers arm from the fingertips to the shoulder.

While the ball is in the possession of the goalkeeper, it may not be challenged for or played by an opponent in any manner. An opponent who attempts to challenge for a ball in the possession of the goalkeeper may be considered to have committed a direct free kick foul. However, a ball which is only being controlled by the goalkeeper using means other than the hands is open to otherwise legal challenges by an opponent. The referee should consider the age and skill level of the players in evaluating goalkeeper possession and err on the side of safety.

Long and short of this I read it as: if the goal keeper has two hands on the ball he/she is in control of it, therefor should the goal have counted? Don't get me wrong, I'm over the moon that it did, I just wanted to see opinions.

Thanks, Piran! As with others, I couldn't get it to play on PC or 2 different tablets early in the evening. I gave it a bash at about 11.15pm and it was fine on my cheapo tablet. And, I have to say from what I saw, it looked as if the winning goal should have been disallowed! But as others have said, these things happen and I, too, am made up for St Austell! Glad I was there!

Yes there was a surge yesterday and my bandwidth was exceeded - 1700+ hits on my blog page which is phenomenal! I've had to temporarily extend it. Thanks for the ruling on the goalkeeping situation. May be we were a tad lucky, but the keeper did look awkward.

That 3rd goal is a tough decision to make. I don't think many would've complained if it was disallowed, although I'm sure we are all glad it wasn't. Not sure what the keeper was doing mind, in the circumstances he should've just hit it right up the other end of the pitch rather than let it role in his box just so he could pick it up.
