OldFan
'Big transfer news in the ECPL', come off it. This isn't Sky sports breaking news. That said, that would be a boost for Edgcumbe, it was said on here near the start of the season and has been since, they have a very very good team, but they don't have a good squad, it's too small. And it's a squad with depth that will win silverware, this has already been shown in Edgcumbe's recent results. Teams are now closing in on Edgcumbe & Elburton. Anychance
Squad depth or club depth? Torpoint and Elburton can both utilise their first team which is a big help in the ecpl, torpoint have a third team as well! Edgcumbe have a good squad but they do rely on just those players. Same can be said of the likes of Polperro and Millbrook last season, that's just the way it is.
Bushjumper
Edgcumbe have a second team which they can call upon. They also have the likes of Shane white (truros player of the year) at their disposal. Edgcumbe still favourites for me as Torpoint have the toughest run in. Andre great signing
OldFan
Have they signed this Andre? Torpoint have a SWPL Prem team and a duchy prem team to call on, also they have players like Darren Hicks of Bodmin, Lewis Young of Vospers, that can come in when available. Torpoint are just too strong. Edgcumbe have a second team in Duchy Div 1 to call on... Surely they can't call on Truro players because of contracts, so there's no way they could use a Truro player while there season is on. Just checked the fixtures, Edgcumbe have Bere, Tavistock, Fowey etc away, Saltash, Bere, home, St Teath twice and after there destroying of Elburton they can't be written off to take points from teams and more importantly Torpoint twice. Torpoint are 6 points ahead with a game in hand, havent lost since the start of the season, there goal difference is miles ahead, no question, the TAFC boys will definitely do it! MattP
Not going to get into who will or won't win the league, but both Torpoint and Edgecumbe are very strong sides. Torpoint do have great strength in depth to call on,and are very consistent, hence their deserved position at the top. Edgecumbe are,on their day, unplayable, and the best side we've played this season. The league table shows the standard of football in the Torpoint area. Whoever finishes top,Edgecumbe will deserve huge credit for even being talked about as potential champions, given the differences in resources and the journey they've made to get to where they are. Football at this level is still about team spirit, organisation and great management, regardless of a club's facilities.
Bushjumper
They have to be some side if there the best you've played when you have conceded 20 goals against Torpoint. Fair play to them Edgcumbe favourites
MattP
7 of those with 9 men! Not knocking Torpoint at all, league tables don't lie. Edgecumbe tore us apart at our place though. Whoever wins will be worthy champions.
offside!
Is everyone writing off Elburton? And Saltash will go close. It's going to be very tight. Torpoint and Edgcumbe being the top 2 is far from a given
Blueisthecolour
How many games has Shane white played for edgcumbe this season... None! Edgcumbe don't have a massive squad but they have a squad they've had the past 3/4 years and they don't call upon players from higher leagues to better themselfs for games they need to win
offside!
It's not for the want of trying though
KingKos6
Agree with MattP that Team spirit, organisation and good management is what sets teams apart in ECPL. Macca and the boys at Edgcumbe have done a terrific job in adapting to the step up this season. At Fowey we matched them pretty much all season last year but our 1 and only team of 14/15 players has meant they've pulled away from us this season. Torpoint is one of the best run clubs in the entire county and the way that players interchange between all 3 teams is the reason for their success at all 3 levels. Although I think it will be between these 2, as Elburton's discipline will find them out, Polperro have the potential to break into the top 3 with the quality of their front 2 and midfield. Another fine example of a progressive local club who have worked their socks off to establish themselves at senior level. An example we hope to follow at Fowey. middle mans mate
No, I think the fact that no one knows "andres" surname shows what a load of codswallop this is!
