bodmin town spent a few seasons in the late 1950s playing at westheath. according to the paper pitch 1 needed reseeding and relaying and would be unable to be played on for 3 years. in 1955 an appeal for a new stand was launched as the old antique wood and iron stand was deemed an eyesore in the priory.

in the 50s, st kew played on a pitch in station road. is there any trace of this?

in their swl career, plymouth civil service played at beacon down (not the brickfields as i thought), is this ground still around?

for footballers in plymouth in the 60s, some grounds they might have played on included central park, lipson arena, cottage field, tothill enclosure, victoria park, trefusis, staddiscombe and for the big games millbay park.

newton abbot in their swl tenure played at centrax sports ground. i believe their last season was played elsewhere. it wasnt centrax and it wasnt coach road, they didnt groundshare with spurs either. does anyone know?

Beacon Down is still undeveloped all the buildings have been demolished including the bowls pavillion

but the pitches have just been left overgrown no signs of any activity. Lipson area is now part of Lipson Community College I don't know if it is still used for sport the original pitches at Lipson are now the sports ground for the College. Trefusus valley now only has a junior size pitch no adult facility. Victoria park pitches remain as they have for as long as I can remember, but Millbay park has changed all the bushes surrounding the perimeter fence have been removed and just the metal bar fencing remains all the atmosphere of playing in an enclosed pitch gone with the bushes.

I just passed Beacon Down about two hours ago and the building of new houses has begun As you say a great sports facility gone for ever No wonder our national teams are so successful !!!!

Those Plymouth grounds bring back memories.

Won a Sunday football cup once at Unity Park I think it was called. Was a few years ago!! Is that still there?

unity park is now full of houses as is Bowden Park ,another MOD pitch at the top of Forder Valley on the left Does anyone remember Woodlands pitch at Ivybridge the other side of theA38 where Ivybridge play now? Also Butt Park at Honicknowle which had the largest playing area of any pitch in Plymouth
