Heavy, uneven pitch at Delabole but all in all it was a good game and played in a good spirit by both teams. Premier Sixes Posted January 25, 2015 Report Share Posted January 25, 2015 JJ JONES DUCHY FOOTBALL LEAGUE The Premier Division title race has been reignited after Padstow United lost their first league game of the season, 4-1 at Lostwithiel. The hosts were three up by half time with two Josh Cook goals and a Martyn Jones strike. Padstow pulled a goal back through Kevin Allen ten minutes from time, but five minute later James Hutchings cross slipped through the keeper’s hands and into the goal to secure the home win. Looe Town warmed up nicely for their Junior Cup area semi-final next week with a 4-0 Premier Division win over St.Columb Major. Luke Cloke scored a brace with Matt Barton and James O’Brien completing their scoring. St.Stephen also have cup interest next week and in a great game to watch they beat North Petherwin 3-2. St Stephen scored after only eight minutes when Craig Coad beat the offside trap to race through and round the keeper to score. North Petherwin equalised in the 21st minute when they caught St Stephen sleeping at a short corner and the ball was swung in for the ball to be headed home. The second half was only nine minutes old when Coad got his second but North Petherwin fought back and scored direct from a free kick when Jamie Bullock gave away a needless foul on the edge of the area, the free-kick going around the wall into the bottom right hand corner in the 72nd minute. Coad scored his hat-trick and the winning goal in the 78th minute when a throw in was controlled by him and he turned and ran in on goal to score. St.Dominick went down 3-1 at home to Pelynt. Ryan Oxley gave the visitors a 7th minute lead when he ran through the middle of the St.Dominick defence. Kian Armitage equalised in the 65th minute from close range, but ten minutes later Oxley chipped the keeper to restore the Pelynt lead. Oxley completed his hat trick from the penalty spot. Saltash United beat Lamerton 3-2 in a closely fought game which was marred by a serious injury to Saltash winger Adam Taylor who suffered a suspected cruciate ligament injury which could end his season. Lee Powell, Elliot Dymond and Tom Easson scored for Saltash with James Steer and Simon Kelly replying for Lamerton. Division One leaders Foxhole were given their toughest battle of the season before beating Altarnun 3-1. Foxhole took a 16th minute lead from a Jeremy Pascoe strike from twenty yards. Altarnun responded well matching the hosts to the break and then equalising ten minutes into the second half through Jody Holgarth. Foxhole restored their lead when a Pascoe free kick was parried into the path of Jamie Robinson to score and Foxhole were relieved when Paul Reed’s cross was not dealt with and Richard Griffin struck the host’s third. Biscovey were 3-1 winners over Grampound. It was all Biscovey in the first half. Jimmy Penhall and Lee Budge against his former team gave them a two-goal half time lead, but in truth it should have been more. Grampound came out with a different attitude after the break and ten minutes into the half pulled a goal back. It was getting a little nervy for the home team until Tom Pickering scored their third five minutes from time. Andy Seymour scored a brace as St.Minver made the long journey to Edgcumbe and recorded a 5-3 win. Jason Northcott, Steve Wootton and an own goal completed the visitors tally. James Rothwell, Jay Boyle and Ben Dodds replied for Edgcumbe. LC Phoenix and St.Cleer shared four goals. Jake Benney and Luke Williams scored for LC Phoenix with Zak Peel and Martin Putt replying for St.Cleer. AFC Bodmin were held one all at home by Premier Sixes to give the visitors a valuable point. Matt Hooper was the home marksman. St.Dennis has gone back to the top of Division Two after a fine 4-2 win at Stoke Climsland. Nathan Hugh scored a brace with Paul Rowe and Kelvin Greenaway adding a goal apiece. Stoke replied through Matt Shipton and an Ian Cook penalty. Overnight leaders Sticker suffered a heavy setback losing 4-1 at home to Callington Town. Sam Fogarty was the home scorer. Holywell/Cubert Athletic who play St.Stephen next week in the Junior Cup continued their lacklustre league form with a two all draw with North Hill. Simon Holmes scored both Holywell goals with Jason Ridgment and Dan Gregory replying for North Hill. Calstock beat Lifton 3-2. Mike Brown scored a brace either side of a Berryn Phillips penalty for the hosts. Tom Horn and Dan O’Donovan replied for Lifton. Boscastle leap frogged Tregony to move up to second on goal difference in Division Three. Tregony scored first through Harry Willshaw, but then conceded three goals in quick succession. Jordan Sleep, Dan Capstick and Dan Piper were the marksmen to turn the game on its head. The second half was quite even with Boscastle holding on to the 3-1 score-line. Craig Phillips scored a first half hat trick as Veryan beat Lanivet Inn 5-0. Alex Pearce also scored in the first period finishing a good team move. Veryan scored just once after the break and that a long-range shot from Liam Cope. North Petherwin reserves returned to action after a long lay-off and were held two all at home by Grampound reserves. Petherwin went two up. The first was a header from the diminutive Luke Robinson with Jake Rich scoring the second after being one-on-one with the keeper. A good passing movement saw Kevin Toms pull a goal back before half time and in the second half a through ball found Shaun Osborne who equalised on his debut. St.Breward were 1-0 winners at St.Cleer reserves with Luke Richards scoring the only goal of the game. Tintagel beat St.Stephen reserves 5-1 to leave the visitors in the bottom two. Martyn Cockcroft scored a brace with Kevin Jeskins, Shaun Keeble and Ollie Price completing the home tally. Dean Yelland hit the St.Stephen consolation. What a difference a week makes? Last Saturday Delabole United thrashed Division Four leaders Godolphin 6-1, but seven days later the same eleven players slumped 6-1 at home to third placed High Street. Stuart Kesson-Smith was the main destroyer with four goals with Dan Charles and Jake Mansell completing the visitor’s tally. Jordan Blanchard scored the home consolation goal. Godolphin Atlantic reserves bounced back in style from last week’s setback to beat the divisions form side Mevagissey 3-1. Dylan Rodgers, Kevin McHugh and Danny Burton scored for Godolphin with Krzysztop Kruszewski replying for Mevagissey. Tregrehan Mills stay at the top lasted just one week after going down to a 3-2 defeat at St.Minver reserves. The home side with players returning from injury gained their best result of the season with goals from Rob Green, Ryan Parsons and Luke Henderson. Dean Dingle scored both Mills goals. St.Merryn beat Wadebridge Town 1-0 in a fine game. The visitors again showed much improved form and were close to getting something out of the game. The only goal came in the first half when a fine St.Merryn move was finished by Josh Dark. Pelynt reserves beat Southgate Seniors 2-1 to stay on the fringes of the promotion race. Elliot Keen scored both Pelynt goals with Lewis Matthews replying for Southgate. Rame Peninsula beat Lanreath 4-0 with Zach Rosen scoring a brace. Luke Robinson and Cameron McBain Top met bottom in Division Five and the leaders Kilkhampton were ruthless winning 16 (sixteen) 1 at St.Newlyn East reserves. Lee Gardiner was in spectacular form scoring eight goals and Tom Shadrick added a hat trick. Ryan Willshire scored on his season debut with Shaun Thomas, Ben Ford, Adam James and a Stuart Cann penalty completing the rout. Matt Toms scored the home consolation. The bad news for the divisions other sides is that Kilkhampton were well below strength on the day. Padstow United reserves remain second and improved their promotion hopes beating third placed Roche 1-0. The game turned on a penalty miss by Roche’s Chris Coad on the half hour. Seven minutes later Padstow made the visitors pay scoring the only goal through Rob Elliott. Dave Trestain was outstanding in defence for Padstow with central midfielder Joel Hurst and winger Ben Prendiville also prominent for the hosts. The game was a meaty encounter with some heavy challenges and end-to-end play. St.Mawgan reserves picked up a good win beating Saltash United reserves 2-0. Lee Gallagher and Paul Bowen were the goal scorers. Boscastle reserves were beaten 4-0 at home by derby rivals St.Teath. Aaron Williams and Craig Thompson scored a brace apiece to keep the visitors close to promotion contention. Real Saltash leave Pensilva next to bottom after beating the visitors 7-3. Wayne Skeldon scored four goals with James Mason adding a brace. Paul Shannon completed the home scoring with Ryan Hooper, Karl Gross and Tim Shearman pulling goals back for Pensilva. Roger Martin Posted January 26, 2015 Report Share Posted January 26, 2015 I refereed the Lostwithiel v Padstow game on saturday, very impressed with the home side, came out for the first half at a very fast pace, 2-0 up in the first ten minutes, Padstow just could not match there pace in the first half, and a injury to the Padstow keeper didn't help there cause, Lostwithiel scored again midway into the first half, leading 3-0 at half time, the away team changed there keeper at half time, losing there keeper with a shoulder injury, the second half was a different story, i don't know what was said in the Padstow dressing room at the break, because they played like a team on top of the league in the second half, pushing Lostwithiel back on the defence for most of the second half, the Lostwithiel defence in the second half were outstanding, Padstow found it very hard to get any change from them, midway into the second half they did find the back of the Lostwithiel net, with a very well worked goal, and they pushed forward, but were caught out on the break, and a cross come shot was pushed into the Padstow net by the stand in keeper, Padstow kept pushing forward, but there heads dropped after the fourth Lostwithiel goal, and it finished 4-1 to the home side, it was a very good game to referee, hard but fair game by both sides, and a credit to the Duchy League. copey Posted January 26, 2015 Report Share Posted January 26, 2015 Duchy 3 Veryan 5 : 0 lanivet After playin lanivet at there place befor christmas we new we would have a hard game against them as they pushed us all the way at there place! So at home we got off to a flying start in the first half leading 4:0 at half time craig phillips first half hattrick and alex pearce finishing off a great team goal to pritty much put the game to bed! The second half was played at a slower pace with veryan only getting 1 goal scored by liam cope! This was a good win for us goin in to next weekends area semi final at looe where we will be facing a strong looe team which we are looking forward to! Good luck to the lanivet boys for the rest of the season!! Mom veryan craig phillips great performance an banging in a first half hattrick!
