Truro City vs Yeovil Town update

Kick off 3pm Saturday 2nd August 2014.

This Saturday, Treyew Road will host League one opposition Yeovil Town in unique circumstances to celebrate Truro City's 125 year anniversary. This will be Yeovil Town’s penultimate away match before their first league match proper on the 9th August.

As with Yeovil Town, we will be playing our first team eleven so an exciting all action game is predicted along with a fine display of football.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 30th, the Truro City team coach “Spirit of Cornwall” will be travelling to Yeovil to collect the team and take them to a preseason training camp in Cornwall. In the evening, the Yeovil team will be taken to Home Park where they will be playing Plymouth Argyle, again in a preseason friendly and then returning back to camp.

On Saturday the Spirit of Cornwall will collect the Yeovil Team in readiness for the 1.30pm arrival at Treyew Road for the 3.00pm kick off and perhaps history in the making. This is one of those occasions not to be missed. Our sincere thanks go to Yeovil Town and particularly to manager Gary Johnson who has kindly helped both Truro City and Cornwall by participating in this celebratory match.

Turnstiles and Bars will be open at 12 noon and the overspill Car Park available at the County Hall. Please arrive early to avoid congestion.

Season Ticket holders will gain free entry to this exciting fixture. As with the Argyle game last week, your names and details will be held at the turnstiles. There is no requirement to bring your receipt.

It is anticipated that the Season Tickets will be available on Monday 4th August. More details to follow when available.

I am sorry to be missing this one but the first league game v Chesham is costing me around £200 to attend, if I have a good win at Goodwood races on Friday, I may try to get to this one. ONE HELL OF A GAME COMING UP.

"Our sincere thanks go to Yeovil Town and particularly to manager Gary Johnson who has kindly helped both Truro City and Cornwall by participating in this celebratory match."

I think the above sentence says it all, a case of Truro City Football Club saying thank you for a great gesture by Yeovil Town Football Club.

Brian Mooreshead - this doesn't really answer your question but I think Yeovil hire transport. (The Yeovil ciderspace independent website report mentions Conference South but that error should read Southern League Premier Division)

One of the unusual aspects of Yeovil Town's pre-season so far has been that they have not spent any time away from Huish Park, aside from solitary away days for pre-season friendlies. A regular theme of pre-season schedules has been that they have spent time away from South Somerset on team-bonding exercises, but it had appeared that none were planned for this time around.

However, Saturday's opponents Truro City have indicated that Yeovil Town will be spending a few days down in Cornwall between tomorrow night's friendly againstPlymouth Argyle and Saturday's visit to Treyew Road, and that the Conference South club will be laying on the transport for that occasion.

The Glovers will be spending time in an unspecified location in Cornwall between Wednesday and Saturday, and Truro will be sending out their own coach, named as the 'Spirit of Cornwall' (pictured below) to act as chauffeur for the club, obviously negating the need for Yeovil to take a coach down to Cornwall for three days. Truro plan to pick the Yeovil Town players up at Huish Park tomorrow morning, and to provide them with their transport for the trip to Home Park on Wednesday evening.

For Saturday's fixture, Truro have indicated that their bars and turnstiles will be opening at 12.00 noon, in readiness for what will be a designated 125th Club Anniversary celebration match.

Looking forward to the match very much i reckon it cold be a Truro old boy coming back to play for them someone like Andy Watkins or even Stewart Yetton . Going to get down there early and park in county hall i use to park in the side road across from the entrance to the football ground i have always parked there for years but this time i came back and i had a parking ticket so that was a expensive match . Im looking forward to seeing Newquay lads Isaac Vassel and Jamie LOWRY playing very impressed with them so far but Barry Hayles looks really good .

£10 to get in does not bother us regular supporters if it helps the club, perhaps some of the fee is to go towards the hospiality extended by Truro City for the past few days (see "Spirit of Cornwall" above). when clubs extend the hand of friendship it is good to give something back. One thing is certain, whatever we contribute is for the good of the club.

I sent a PM to a friend at the club tonight, remembering those family and friends from the past drove home how valuable our local football clubs are, below is what I wrote.

Like all of you I knew the club was in a mess (albeit not knowing how much) Peter, Pepe and their families have turned things around allied to the help received from many more, a football club is too precious to lose and I think they deserve our support.

Tomorrow Yeovil pay the club a great honour and in a way pays back something for the support you guys have given during our troubled times, I just couldn't let 125 years pass without paying my respects to those no longer with us who kept the club going all that time, not forgetting that Truro City Football Club was the only senior club in Cornwall to remain active throughout the last world war, they gave many people hope during those troubled times, Britain did not give up and the football club being there meant a lot.

Maybe those gone before should be remembered at some time with a minutes applause.

See you tomorrow.

Ivor

eeWnt and watched Truro vs Yeovil play this afternoon and they played brilliant and where unlucky to loose fine display by the whole team lost 2-1 to a Kiefer Moore tap in after Isaac Vassel had equalised for Truro Barry Hayles should of equalised when 1 on 1 with Krysiak but blazed over .Truro very unlucky to loose in front of a crowd just over 300 my mom has to be the Truro team but Jake ASH had a brillint game . Also the Truro replacement goalie made a marvellous save in the 2nd half from yeovil the penalty spot taken by Leitch Smith all in all Truro where awesome today

Is that true, just over 300 to watch a game between Truro and Yeovil Town 1st Team.

Poor show from the Truro supporters.

Even if everyone paid the £10 entry that would be a maximum of just over £3,000 gate takings. Hardly worth putting up the nets for that!

Perhaps people are now starting to be cagey where they spend their money especially having to fork out a tenner to watch an average non-league football team against a poor league side.

Rather pay £10 to watch truro rather than the dross served up in the swpl or whatever it's called these days whoever they are playing!

For the people who didnt see the match between Truro vs Yeovil it was a really entertaining match and well worth the £10 to be entertained Truro played some really lovely football yesterday and deserved a draw it doesnt say much for Plymouth Argyle if Yeovil could only beat them 2-1 the same as Truro . I will be going up Truro again but i will be going to watch Godolphin play most weekends and also to watch Newquay who i think will really struggle this year and will get some hammerings against the likes of St Austell Bodmin and Plymouth Parkway i cnat see anyone else touching those 3 teams

You had a good day today Teddy hooking some big ones there boy. Back to your subject I suppose to Truro City £3000 is just a drop in the ocean but you know the words of a well known retailer "Every little helps". Will probably just about cover the cost of our coach travel and hotel bill at Cambridge in a couple of weeks time, not forgetting the win bonus. Just think that 3k would have covered your teams expenses for the season. Good luck Calron I am sure all at Truro City wish you a first successful season in management.

Being cagey today I had a £50 bet with Coral's for Truro to win the league at odds of 40/1 (City are that good).

I tried to bet £100 but Corals would only accept £50 AND I have both the bet and refusal in print.

So I can't be accused of telling porkies.

Take it from me, this Truro City team are the real deal.

Ivor,I to think we have a very good quality squad.

We will be in amongst it,and I would settle for play-offs ,now.

If we got to the play-offs,we would have a magnificent chance of promotion.

On our day we can turn any one over.

Plus.despite the negative comments about PSF attendences,we all know,if the big games come to Truro, the crowds will increase.

Bring it on.

You guys are looney!! What crowds will come, All 500!? Thats nothing in comparison to what your talking about, football conference, football league, premier league etc etc!!!! Luton Town, Grimbsy, Cambridge, Lincoln, all averaged over 3000 last season....you will never compete with that, not a prayer. Take afew off your big crowd aswell if Argyle are doing well & your left with a decent Western league club..reality check!

Whats funny about you fools is that you & the same old 3/4 usual posters on this forum banging on about truro city all the time actually believe that one day you will be as big as some of the football league clubs. If truro was such a big club you would have hundreds of different posters, not the same old 3/4!

A specialised firm in H & S who monitor many football league games have been at Hereford this week because one of the requirements is that the safety officer at the event has to be fully familiar with the location. There are clubs higher up the leagues who use grounds where parts are cordoned off because they are not up to standard. When we were last a Farnborough the stand behind the goal had not been completed so remained closed, they got it from Gateshead when Reynolds built a new stadium for them, I think it is still unused because there are no funds to complete the job.
