vospers oak villa v Illogan

Recommended Posts

Illogan's goals came from Luke Johnson and Tom Smith. We let a two goal lead slip although a point was probably a fair result with either side missing chances to win the game late on.

Due to player unavailability and injury, our manager, Mikey Pascoe, made his SWP debut playing the last 15 minutes right wing tearing their left back to pieces in the process!!

What a great advert for Western Division Football.

Following Tuesdays draw with Liskeard I did not have a game so went and watched this game. I thought Vospers would make Illogan fight all game, though it was the other way as Illogan started out the blocks pressing the ball every second they could following their Managers constant yelling on the pitch to get them in good shape and attacking force.

This proved to be an inspiration after 3 minutes when Luke Johnson was free to shoot across the Vospers keeper after a through ball and remaining onside.

Illogan continued to press and made life hard for the yellow and blues, who reverted a lot to some long ball play to the wide men but the height of the Illogan defence were too strong at times, although Lewis Young gave them a tough time all game.

Vospers captain and left back really gave his side some encouragement, although they couldn't defend the second goal in which Tom Smith scored with a header.

If you were there as a spectator, it looked like Illogan, after scoring 10 in 2 games would score more and go on and win, how wrong were those who did.

Vospers got a goal before the break through Lewis Young but it wasn't enough to grab a second before half time.

The Illogan side did begin to suffer, and their Manager Mikey Pascoe remained slightly quiet than usual and even made an appearance after a player injury and less subs available.

Both sides were playing for the crucial goal, Vospers to level and Illogan to extend their lead, but it was Vospers who grabbed the vital goal (not sure of the scorer) and nobody can criticise the fact they did deserve this as they worked really hard for it.

Both sides will be upset about several refereeing decisions, but don't all Managers and players.

Overall an entertaining game and this time Vospers were the side celebrating the comeback after being in front on Tuesday and losing their lead.

Very fair assessment mr Cornish! Think a draw was a fair result in the end, our first away day up to Plymouth and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Toll us 2 and a half hours to get there cramped up in a mini bus in the august traffic, not best prep lol.

We had dom batchelor, josh hoon, jack Coleman , Tim Nixon and Joe Carlyon not available so a fair few out and manager Mikey and our lino having to be named as subs, backs to the wall job! So in the end with Mikey having to play in the second half we were delighted with a point

The lad on the left for vospers looked a quality player, game could have gone either way in the end, think the vospers bar staff enjoyed our stay after and our evening in Plymouth was fun with a few beers! Got back to illogan for a pint just before 10pm, all the boys enjoying the first away day!
