midlandlilywhite
An excellent result from a vibrant Step 6 team against a struggling Step 5 team . Well done to Lafs and the boys. This result again shows that the top sides of the SWPL Premier Division are as good as or if not better than many of the clubs in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division. I know that if St Austell finish in the promotion positions this season they have the ambition to move up to Step 5. However geography and the supposed ensuing costs are the issues on which other clubs have decided against promotion to Step 5 in the past. Maybe a division at Step 5 level with its maximum distances in the Exeter/Taunton area could be a future solution, taking in clubs from the top of the SWPL and those in the area suggested ? Anybody know the attendance at Saturday's match ?

I'm sure you are aware that a number of these players were originally from St Austell and are St Austell boys wanting to play for an ambitious club ! The Smiling Assassin
What you need to remember Somersetpur is that they are EX Truro players. As they are not under contract with Truro, they are free to play for whoever they wish. Did any of the current Truro squad ever play for another team? Marazion2013
Perhaps if Truro had a reserve side they would have stayed there and try and get to the SWPL Premier with them and progress upwards to the western league. No point being a Truro player and not able to play on a saturday because only so many players in a squad

Dave Deacon
Chapman, Watts, Williams, Reski, Slateford, Brokenshire, Eddy, Sims It takes two though. Out of these players that appeared for St Austell on Saturday, I wonder how many would return to Treyew Road and how many would be wanted anyway? Marazion2013
The point is Somersetspur, do not knock St Austell because they have given the players a platform on which to perform when Truro could not give them that opportunity. All the talk for years in all levels of football about players willing to sit on the bench and collect a pay packet. At least these players are actually playing football rather than collect a payment from truro to sit in the stands.

At least these players are actually playing football rather than collect a payment from truro to sit in the stands. Exactly, genuine players want to play rather than sit on the bench. These lads deserve credit as they are happy to play for a successful Step 6 tea than be on the bench at what could be on last season's form a struggling Step 3 team. Next season the teams maybe only one step apart !
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas
Well if Truro have a reserve side......tell them to turn up at my club on Saturday, we now have a blank Saturday through TCFC decision to pull out at such a late stage - thanks for that, you look after yourselves and bugger the rest. I think that Mr Somersetspur is hinting that St Austell are Truro City Reserves. However unfortunately they cannot play you as they have Bovey at home !
