Verwood v Plymouth Parkway - Fa Vase.

Recommended Posts

Like the Bald One, couldn't go yesterday . From the excellent updates received by Robin Van Parkway during the game, the game seemed to follow the pattern of many others this season. Too many sloppy and soft goals have been conceded when they have been in control of games, this has left Parkway with a mountain to climb and having to chase games. I notice that Ben Elphick was back in goal as well yesterday, not sure if Josh Colwill was injured or suspended, but unsure where this leaves the goalkeeping situation for the immediate future.

Levi Landricombe and Andrew Neal have now scored 42 out of the 71 goals for the season between them, and Parkway would be struggling without this pair . Indeed, the Walter Parsons Cup game at home to Holsworthy on the 13th December looks huge now. A loss in this is effectively the end of Parkway's season.

Also saw the game vs Saltash and didn't know why parkway bothered having a midfield as all they did for the first half was lump the ball forward for landricombe and Neal to chase.

Yes they have a hefty budget but don't seem to have any plan B or C if plan A doesn't work, and that has to be down to the management team

Swpl teams have worked out how to play against parkway. The 5.3.2 is too reliant on Rocky and Levi chasing long balls. The 3 lads in the middle aren't involved and look frustrated. A player like shane krac is completely wasted in that system. No width. Big egos constantly bickering and undermining the manger. After the first goal they conceded against saltash will stringer could clearly be heard shouting 'f*uk off you c*unt' twice at the manager! That says it all really. Something needs to change

They must go back to the 4-4-2 that seemed to serve them well last year. Rocky and Levi are the best two strikers in the league, but the need to be running onto crosses not needless long balls. Shane Krac is an absolute gem of a ball player but without wide men he is losing his ability to spread the game. I agree with Harry Monk : Every team knows what Parkway play like now and its time for a change.

Parkway play the same 3-5-2 as last year. Just haven't got Luke rundle as an outlet or Adam carter actually retaining the ball instead of chasing the ball. Makes a big difference for the 3 centre midfielders if they had a striker to play off. Rather than 2 identical small quick strikers.

Letting Carter go was a mistake

what just because he scored 5 at the weekend Levi is the top scorer of the league they need to build team around their star players No. Carter offers a lot more than goals. (If you actually read the thread! ) He's a quality link player. Holds the ball up superbly and brings the 3 central midfielders into the game.

I did notice Ben Joyce has signed again ? What is that all about . Several players from the past back in the squad.

4 strikers ? Did someone say big egos in the changing room again ? Was Mr Stringer swearing at the coaching staff in retaliation for them shouting at him ?

Strange how something so good can go so bad , so quickly.

Pugwash - Your so right - No need for more Strikers.

In my opinion they need to re build from the back, not sign more strikers. Mike Landricombe is the only back worth his weight at the moment. They need another Centre Half and two full backs. Then they can get two proper wide men who are going to deliver quality crosses for Landricombe and Neal. That in turn would allow Shane Krac to do what hes good at and boss the midfield.

Pugwash: Joyce tends to play out wide for parkway. He's recently 'parted company' with Dorchester. Needs minutes under his belt- can't see him signing permanently

Yea stringer reacted to a rollicking from the dugout. Rightly or wrongly he got blamed for their first goal and lost his head.

Agree with footie first- defence are all over the place this season. Individually decent players but they're lacking confidence and have never looked comfortable playing as a back 3. Stringer is error prone, there's talk of him being dropped and reverting to a back 4

Interesting Harry , the thing that I dont understand is that when a player makes an error , he does not need telling. Especially being shouted at from the touch line. Someone like Mr Stringer has a lot of experience and pride and this would only get him down.

Half time is the time to have a word.

The same could be said when a Referee makes a mistake, but I expect to get shouted down for saying that!
