At the end of the day it is for the actual club committee / structure to decide where and at what level their teams play at. The work behind the scenes at every club and at every level is unbelievable. I don't know what St Austell can achieve, however, I will reiterate a statement made to me by an ex player, committee member and finally a member of the top table - we are custodians of the club and must pass it on in the same state or better that we received it.

It is no secret that as a club we are looking into the pros and cons of promotion if we are in the right posistion come May. The club is the best posistion it has ever been as long as I can remember!!

Me personally would love to see St Austell take promotion and compete at a higher level, I feel when an opportunity arrises you should take it. The committe has worked so hard over the last 6 years I think they should be rewarded by seeing their club progress!!!

Another good result for town, could of n should of been more . Missed several chances inc 2 pens . If I was ref think I would of had to had a word with chappers about his language . Not aimed at any one but continually shouting the F word when organising . Ref slightly favouring the home side me thinks

Nice to hear a club taking things sensibly. Not going crazy beyond their means.

I still see no benefit to any club gaining promotion away from the local area, there's no money in it and when all fails (when ultimately it will) it is an even harder road back.

I think realistically that Western league is the highest that any club can sustainably go but even then that would be a struggle

It is bad enough travelling to far flung places in this league. Bring back the old south western league - there would be less travel, same standard of football and more spectator interest. At least the it would be organised within Cornwall and not Exeter!

There were probably seasons in the old south western league when travelling was as much as it is now, with teams such as Appledore, Ilfracombe, Okehampton, Exeter Civil Service, Clyst Rovers, Elmore etc. and there were far less dual carriageways and bypasses! Dave Deacon could probably tell us which was the worst SWL season for travel. Over to you Dave.

Add to that list torrington, ottery etc....don't think travel is much worse now than in old swl days. Also, IF st.austell went up, not sure that one further promotion to southern league south would bring much more travel than western league but again that's something Dave might know!

If they got as far as the Southern Premier, it would be one hell of a derby with Truro City!! :c:
