St Blazey v Bodmin

A nil nil result but as a neutral spectator I thought this was a good competitive game, probably a fair result in the end as Bodmin missed several chances in first half and should have gone in at half time ahead. Second half pretty even but St.Blazey should have scored in fiinal 5 minutes when their striker did all the hard work and rounded Miller but somehow managed to then miss the target. First half the young referee (they all look young to me nowadays) took an awful lot of back chat from players especially Carter of Bodmin who seems to have to moan about everything, must be a fun to live with. However in second half the players actually got on with playing and thus as a paying spectator it was far more enjoyable.

Watched the St.Dennis v Illogan game today, thought it had a bit of everything! Really pleased for Illogan, great club and people who after coming up from the combo are surprising everyone! Chuffed for Mikey and Jamo and great quote of the day from Mikey in his radio Cornwall interview!!! "Josh Hoon is not a ball player, he's a ball winner and on the muddy pitch today he was like a pig in manure". Superb. :-). Was in the car driving home chuckling for ages! It was all in the delivery! Must say a big well done to St.Dennis as well whose facilities are improving everytime I go to a game there. Good game of football well reffed by Tim Reeks who could have easily dished out more cards if he was petty.

Mikey loves a one liner rappo lol, quality! Didn't see you there today mate, should have popped round for a chat! Think the neutrals would have loved the game today, both teams 100 percent commited, wasn't for the faint hearted lol thought the pitch stood up to 90 mins fantastically well considering how soft it was, great set up at St Dennis , it's making for a great season for the swpl west with a fair few teams capable of taking points off each other

Elburton Villa 0 Saltash United 5

How things have changed at Haye Road. This place use to be a "fortress", but sadly those days have gone. The team lacks the "grit" it use to have.

Villa look a shadow of the team they use to be.

But take nothing away from the "ashes", they plugged away on a pitch that looked it desperate need of a cut and slowed the ball down.

Last season the "ashes" went very close and are currently sitting in third in the league. This on a managed budget, with players who wouldn't move for a fiver.

Was going to mate but it was a busy day for you guys, loads going on! Thought I would stay in the car listening to the rugby and watching the football. Like a pig in manure as Mikey would say!! :-). Nice little 30 man brawl at the end as well! Entertainment at its best. Two good teams going for it as football should be, cracking high tempo pace to the game and as you say Jamo, a terrific game for the neutral like myself. Hope Newport v Exeter is as good a match tomorrow!? Good luck for the rest of the season and catch you soon bud.

Halfback, don't waste your breath m8. A new team comes in & does well & 1 idiot thinks your paying out money. They don't think that a quality manager & a well run club can be successful without money. They are not worth answering m8.

Keep up the great work Mikey, top man. Well done all at Illogan.

Unfortunately, the info about what players are getting paid at any club often comes from the players themselves! A couple of seasons ago a player told me what he was getting paid, (it was a ridiculous amount!), and even referred to himself being a semi-professional footballer! So it's not a one-way street.

Kev I know that mate. That's the problem with not using real name my fault lol. Thanks for sticking up for us though ha. As scoffy says was just tongue in cheek, although I think we do deserve a little something now haha ?

Hi Adam... Just to let you know me and the lads used our fine money to pay Mikey to take you yesterday!! Haha

Cracking result

Parkway 2 ( Danny Lewis, Will Stringer) Falmouth Town 0 (HT 1-0)

A match that will live as long in the memory as the average episode of Emmerdale. A win and three points, but a better side than Falmouth (no disrespect intended to anybody at Falmouth Town by that comment) would have given Parkway problems. The loudest cheer of the second half was when the referee blew the final whistle and put the crowd out of their misery.

Even Ken's (Charlie Baggott Stand regular) jokes seemed entertaining in comparison...

Was a comical moment when the ref fell on top of the ball though!!

How Bodmin didnt come away with three points today at St.Blazey lord only knows. Had the best of the chances. Looks as if St.Austell were real winners today without playing

Bodmin certainly started and ended the match far the stronger team but towards the end of the first half and for about 30 minutes in the second half St Blazey went toe to toe with Bodmin, unfortunately without creating much.

Apart from Broomfield wasting a good one-on-one with a poor first touch after being played in by Daw and Iles having a cross-come-shot tipped over the bar, Blazey did nothing of note in the first half.

Second half was more encouraging. Blazey were constantly giving Bodmin food for thought on the break but didn't really make any clear chances until around five minutes to go. Coombes found himself one-on-one with the Bodmin keeper again, this time smartly rounding him before inexplicably putting his shot over the bar from about eight yards. He looked absolutely gutted, as well he might, as it was probably the best chance of the afternoon for either team!

After that Bodmin threw everything at Blazey but couldn't get the goal.

Sets up next weeks encounter in the Vase nicely.

To goldeneye and the reference to speaking to an illogan player a couple years back , about what he was paid? You must believe everything a player tells you and are very gullible, as there is no money at illogan and never will be, team spirit and local lads that live and die for the club beats money in my eye and long may it continue at our club, at least we know we have players playing for the right reason , team spirit and commitment works well for us and long may it continue, infuriates me , even when we were combo people suggest money got our success , jealousy springs to mind, if in doubt, blame money on success , goldeneye open invite spend a month or two with us and if you see a single penny in a pay packet to anyone of our players I will personally send you on holiday
