Falmouth town vs penwith match abandoned!

I have been told the CCFA could potentially throw the book at Penwith. Mass brawl, 3 Red Cards for Penwith. Dan Burt apparently involved who has just come back from a 3 match ban , 1 Red For Falmouth. Penwith managers and supporters fighting players on the pitch and intimidating the referee before he abandonned the match.

Newlyn Lions 15-2 Wendron

Ran the game from the start, we were 2-0 up inside the first 10 minutes and it looked like it was going to be a cricket score but we ended the half leading 3-0, scoring the third just before the whistle.

We came out of the blocks straight away in the 2nd half and scored goal after goal but conceding 2 silly goals.

Best of luck to Wendron who never gave up on their attacking style of play.

Stithians -1 St Erme - 6

Today we travelled to play Stithians in the league, off the back of 2 defeats it was important to get back to winning ways.

And we started on the front foot causing the home side problems from the start and it didn't take long for St Erme to take the lead as a great cross in from Terry Campbell was put away with a diving header from Elliott Jolly, this really galvanised the away team and they started to play some lovely football, it was soon 2 nil as Adam Coveney went off on a trademark run before burying the ball past the keeper, and it soon got worse for the home side as a great ball by Andy Mitch was put away by Paul Hopkinson with a great strike into the bottom corner.

St Erme then relaxed a bit and brought a little bit of pressure on themselves, however the away side always looked like scoring on the counter attack with Jolly and Coveney wasting some great chances to add to the scoring however we would soon be punished as Stithians clawed a goal back with a set piece that was buried with a great header at the back post. The ref blew for Half time with the score 1-3 to the away side.

2nd half started and it was sluggish from both teams with no really great football being played at all. However both sides soon got going and started creating with Stithians unlucky with one chance that was cleared off the line.

But they would soon rue that missed opportunity as Coveney once again notched after a poor goal kick, he reacted quickest to put the ball in to the bottom corner and make the game safe for the away side, the half ebbed and flowed and its was soon 5-1 as Jolly adjusted his feet quickly in the box to score from close range.

There was then a period with alot of substitutions and this slowed the game down, however there was still time for Terry Campbell to go on a surging run before being up ended in the box resulting in a penalty which saw Campbell pick himself up and put the spot kick away to make it 6-1 to the away side, the game then came to an end with a good performance by the away side resulting in a much needed win and 3pts.

Well played to Stithians who have a great bunch of lads there, for St Erme we go again next week with an away game at Wendron.

St Erme Man of the Match - Andy Mitchell, great shift played in a couple of different positions but never stopped running and gave everything to the cause.

I wasn't at the Penwith v Falmouth game but it will interesting to see what happens here. In many years of football I've never known a game be abandoned due to a "mass brawl" as someone has described it. Everyone loves a tasty competitive game but it would seem this has got way out of hand! If it's true that the referee felt it necessary to abandon the game then the strongest penalty possible should be handed out to those responsible including lengthy bans or even pulling sides out of the league - which would be a real waste of talent considering they are both good sides

Only one thing to mention which my players said not to but I think if only for the comical element , I think I may have shared a laugh or to with Kerwin looking down, from the clouds as the entire carharrack squad stood on the balcony only for the saints to score in the 2nd half, to which a massive cheer came from the entire squad on the balcony.?? arch rivals , local derby ??? the love those carharrack boys shared for st day even left caddy speechless he stopped shouting put it in the mixer for two minutes??

Don't know about attacking style at 11-30 this morning down to 9 players but with a call to the U16s manager brought in 3 16year olds for their debut. Any game that our manager has to play in means we're in for a hard time.all credit to Newlyn good side and hopefully we will be in a position to give them a better game in a few weeks time. Definitely the best team won .

Trispen 3-1 Pendeen Res

Good win for Trispen against a physical side. Could have had one or 2 more. Pendeen game into the came better in the 2nd half. Ugly scenes first half from Pendeen no 15 and captain on top of our striker with knees in his face, kneeing him and ripping his knees across his face. Never seen anything like it ever. Even the referee assessor on the day couldn't believe he was still on the pitch for this and various other nasty encounters.

Anyway 1st of 3 games against pendeen in one month so a tough run.

Trispen goals lewis dodd 2 and Fred tallis.

We was on the top pitch and from what was said from people who was ACTUALLY there is that a heavy tackle from penwith not dirty but a firm tackle started it. With Falmouth starting it and the ref sided with Falmouth and started dishing cars only to penwith. I didnt see this but this is what was by 3 or 4 guys watching afterwards.

Trelawny League Division 4: Ludgvan Reserves 2-1 Praze-an-Beeble Reserves

Two goals inside the opening 10 minutes were enough to see Ludgvan past Praze-an-Beeble at Fair Field.

The Hurlers took an early lead through a Jamie Leah tap-in and then doubled their advantage moments later, when a neat back-heel from Leah sent Michael Fitchett surging into the penalty area. The midfielder then picked out Andy Weir, who added the finish from 12 yards.

The game opened up after that and, after Praze made a tactical change to bring an extra man into midfield, chances were missed at both ends.

At times it looked as though Ludgvan would be made to pay the price for committing too many men forward, but the home side had the post to thank as they took a 2-0 lead into the interval.

After half-time, the Hurlers threatened to add a third goal as Fitchett was denied by the Praze goalkeeper at point-blank range.

However, the visitors never gave up and were rewarded for their efforts with a goal when Paul Roach's low drive found the bottom left-hand corner to set up a tense finish at Fairfield.

Substitute Liam Barnett missed a great chance to restore Ludgvan's two-goal lead with around 15 minutes remaining, heading over from six yards after some good work from Scott Stevens down the left-hand side.

But after a Praze effort went behind for a goal-kick at the other end, the referee signalled for full-time, much to the bemusement of both sides as there appeared to be at least 10 minutes remaining.

Ludgvan Reserves: J Fitchett; J Hannaford (Southcott), Penney, Matthews, M Harris; M Fitchett, T Hannaford, Mills, Stevens; Weir (Fletcher), J Leah (Barnett).

Trelawny Premier League

Gulval 1 St Keverne 3 (Toby Farrell, Mathew Sharpe, Kai Tutton-Gane)

After the normal sluggish start to the season, The Saints have now recorded back to back victories :D After a week of players struggling with injuries we managed to get a squad 2gether for this early season '6 pointer'

It was a match that was defiantly a 'game of 2 halves' with St Keverne the stronger side in the 1st half, scoring twice, hitting the bar twice, having a goal disallowed & the home keeper making a number of good saves. The second half was defiantly Gulval's. After making some chances, the home side came out with the bit between their teeth & started to play.

They scored through their No 15, who had been a threat all afternoon & then pushed for the equaliser. The St Keverne lads then stopped playing football & dropped deeper & deeper, which allowed the home side to almost camp in their opponents half for the last 15 minutes.

With 5 minutes left the home side where awarded a penalty for a foul on their striker. Once the protest's had died down, the number 10 stepped up, but stand in goal keeper Simon Richards saved with his legs, to keep to score at 2-1.

With Gulval pushing to find the equaliser, which their 2nd half performance probably deserved, they were left a little light at the back & from a Toby Farrell pass, Kai Tutton-Gane managed to score.

A really good, competitive game & a really nice bunch of lads who never gave up until the end :D We'll see you in 2 weeks ;)

ST KEVERNE: Simon Richards, Michael Southgate, Craig Peters, Gareth Harris ©, Kai Tutton-Gane, Toby Farrell, Daniel Peters, Tim Pound, Craig Pound, Matthew Sharpe, Gabriel Yvon-Durocher, Kelvin Retallack, James Hosken

Nequay 3rds 1 - Camborne Park 8

After last weeks loss to helston we needed to bounce back with a result against a young, enthusiastic newquay team completley different from the squad their 3rds had last season, but as usual lots of young, quick, technically good players just maybe on day experience and finishing was the difference...

For the first 20 minutes Newquay were having a lot of ball and a rocket from 30 yards was tipped onto bar by park goalkeeper jason brooker, and then park introduced pete norfolk who's been serving a 3 match suspension and he made a immediate impact as park broke and norfolk lobbed the advancing keeper, Half-time was 1-0 to park kind of against the run of play with newquay just lacking that final pass, as camborne park's central defence of ben pearson and captain malcolm nicholls stifled so many attacks.

Park manager said half time a early goal second half and will leave more space and that's what immediately happened scoring 2 minutes into second half and from their on goals game pretty easily, with Park wingers and Strikers Especially Marcus grasso ( Who scored his 100th,101st and 102nd) goals for the club today and partner mike catterall who scored 2 and these two destroyed the middle of the newquay defence, Newquay got consolation late on replacement finishing after a corner wasn't cleared properly.

Great response from us after disappointing result from last week, Junior cup next week St Keverne home!!! Referee kevin wilkinson was superb spoke to players all game, was approachable and explained decisions! Top performance!

I don't think that anyone should really be reporting anything unless they themselves witnessed it. It's not helpful to the clubs involved in the incident and chinese whispers often distort the actual facts.

Newbridge Athletic 6-2 Storm Reserves

After last weeks disappointing defeat Newbridge needed a much better performance in this game. Newbridge started the better team but failed to take the lead after several early attempts on goal. After 25 minutes Joe Ashton finally put the home side in front from Jordan Whalley's corner. Joe got in front of his defender to put a header past the Storm goalkeeper, 1-0. Just 3 minutes later Storm were back level from a counter attack. Storm player ran through leaving his marker behind him, took it round one defender into the box a slammed it into the top corner. 5 minutes later and Newbridge were back in front again. Jordan played an excellent through ball to Gareth Charles out on the right, he ran down the line past the Storm left back and put it into the keeper's bottom corner. Then came a moment of sloppiness from Newbridge's own throw in by our own box just 3 minutes after scoring. The Storm player took it off the player that it was thrown to, crossed the ball to the player in the box and he got a lucky flick to put it into the net passed the defender and goalkeeper. With the game now all square it looked like this could be another one of these games where Newbridge throw it all away again but they pick up their game and carried on attacking and James Tregay put Newbridge back infront once again just 5 minutes before half-time.

Second half Newbridge made some changes, personnel and formation and from then on it was all Newbridge. Just 2 minutes into the second half James Tregay made it 4-2 and his second of the game. Gareth chipped the ball over the defenders to Elliot Baker and he played James through to put it in the net. Another 3 minutes later and Newbridge were looking comfortable when Daniel Birch (Dill) scored from 35 yards out with his left foot after the keepers poor clearance went straight to him. Newbridge now playing some excellent football and were passing the ball around well. Newbridge had several corners in this game with headers going just wide or over the bar and it could have been 9 or 10 by this point, but they finally made it goal number 6 from the corner. Joe put the ball into the near post and James Tregay put the ball into the net for his hat-trick. The Storm linesman flagged for offside and quickly dropped his flag again realising the player who scored was not the one offside. The Storm players complained so the referee had a word with the linesman and after the chat gave the goal. Newbridge almost made it 7 shortly after when Gareth's thunderous strike hit the underside of the bar and came back down but the ref was unsure whether it had crossed the line and didn't give the goal, Dean Bailey followed up the bouncing ball but put it over the bar from 5 yards out. Newbridge continued the pressure for the final 25 minutes on a struggling Storm side but the scored stayed at 6-2. Full-time Newbridge 6-2 Storm.

M.O.M Gareth Charles, An excellent performance from Gareth, he didn't stop running whilst out wide and after the formation change bossed the midfield winning every header.

Attacking style of play? Did they have the ball to attack?

They had it enough to score 2 and had several other efforts saved by our keeper. Wendron attacked well down the flanks with a couple of very quick wingers, just inexperienced through the spine but as their guy said, they were missing several players. I'm positive it will be more competitive when we play there on the 22nd November.

I was actually the player who got punched by the coward Falmouth player, I made a fair honest tackle to which even the ref said "good tackle player" and I've ran off to join the attack and moments later am cheap shotted from the side by a little rat who was the only person to feel he was hard done by, so the punches and the headbut that he took from my teammates were justified. And almost every1 of your teams would react in the exact same way! 1 IN ALL IN. And to all you making opinions on what happened on Saturday when you wasn't their can you not find anything better to do with your lives.

Leave it to the relevant people to sort and deal with accordingly

Never heard anything so ridiculous! If one player has a cheap shot at you then let the ref deal with it - that's what they are there for after all!! To suggest that punches and a headbutt are ever justified is ludicrous, and a childish response of "He did it first" is even worse. No place in football for morons like you - I hope the FA chuck you out of the league

I'm sure this post is supposed to be for match reports and not what everyones opinions are on a bit of aggro that most weren't even involved with! The only ones that know what happened on that Pitch are the guys who played in that fixture and I'm sure the right outcome will happen when the CCFA get involved. As for the rest of us we should just concentrate on our own clubs and let the other clubs get on with their own business, at the end of the day we all just want to enjoy our football on Saturdays!!

Throw the book at both sides. Fine them and kick them out of the league. Absolutely no place for this sort of behaviour in Cornish Football, or any football for that matter. To think that a headbutt etc is justified is probably one of the most moronic things I've heard in a long time. A referee is capable of sorting the situation and obviously both teams thought it necessary to take the matter into their own hands. Wasn't there an exiles player that's only just come back from a ban due to violent conduct? They haven't got a good reputation as it is, let alone with this now hanging over their heads.

It's absolutely disgraceful. There's no place for it! If I was the main man at each of these clubs, I'd certainly be telling those responsible that they are now free agents!!

Well gulvall11......I think I'd have whacked him as well. There's no justification for punching some-one who is not even looking, to much of this cowardice in todays society let alone football

Yes, yes no need for this type of thing in any sport, but it happens, always has, always will. Luckily its not that often.
