With pleasure Nutmeg :)

After a very disappointing performance on Wednesday night at Liskeard and with as many as 10 players unavailable for a variety of reasons (3 away, 2 suspended, 1 injured, 3 working and 1 with the first team), this was a great performance from us and we were bar far the better side from start to finish.

As you suggested, with so many players unavailable we were begging and borrowing on Saturday morning, plus one or two in the squad were carrying injuries, I dragged Tom Barwell and Danny Gill out of retirement for the day and they were excellent for us, as was the returning Ashley O'Rourke.

We went behind in the first half, very much against the run of play after conceding a needless penalty. But the referee gave us two bites of the cherry later in the half as Dan Discombe had his penalty saved (sorry Dizzy) and then Carl Powell-Thomas converted the third penalty of the half to square things up at half-time. We played very well in the second half but just could not convert the chances that came our way. Just when I thought we would have to settle for a point, Lloyd Jones eventually found the back of the net with 5mins remaining.

We thoroughly deserved the points. In fact we should have won by a much wider margin but just seemed to be lacking some composure in front of goal.

Very happy though. :yahoo:

Saltash United (4-3-3): Dan Pen-Collins; Danny Gill, Carl Powell-Thomas, Christian Evans, Ashley O'Rourke; Matt Glendinning, Dan Discombe, James Bullen (Shaun Cleary, 70mins); Lloyd Jones, Josh Fedrick (Curtis Damerell, 80mins), Tom Barwell. Sub not used: Mac Kelly.

Nanpean 1 - 3 Bodmin Town

Another competitive game at Victoria Bottoms, with Rovers unlucky to not get anything from the game after dominating for long periods, playing some good flowing football. Unfortunately we continue to make stupid mistakes and always get punished.

Bodmin had 2 or 3 Seasoned players in there side and they kept Bodmin going when under severe pressure.

1 - 1 all at halftime, but Bodmin started the 2nd period well and scored 2 and continued to play long balls and catch Nanpean out. The game was always on a knife edge after an elbow in the first half only received a yellow card and both teams getting wound up about a very very poor refereeing performance.

Both teams saw a player sent off, one for punching and one for retaliation.

It was a hard competitive game with plenty of banter on and off the field. Bodmin took the spoils but Rovers can be very pleased with the style of football today.

Good luck to Bodmin for the remainder of the season.
