midlandlilywhite
According to Phil Hiscox on the SWPL website , Ilfracombe will be withdrawn from the F A Vase, then the winner of the St Austell v Porthleven tie will then receive a bye into the 1st round but will probably not receive the cash award as they wouldn't have played the match. A little unfair as Ilfracombe's withdrawal was out of their control. St Austell or Porthleven may have beaten them and consequently "earned" the money but due to the circumstances not of their making they will probably be denied some useful cash. Mike Odgers
In a F A Cup Prelim Round Replay in 2005-6 St.Blazey received a walkover when Frome Town pulled out of a midweek replay at Blaise Park.Am I right in thinking as I seem to remember the controversy when St.Blazey didn't receive the prize money. The following round they lost at Merthyr Tydfil
midlandlilywhite
If that's the case Mike, they can't change the rules as there has been a precadent.
V J
Whilst I'm sure Ilfracombe had perfectly good reasons to opt out of their league, I don't see why any club should forfeit prize money due to a bye in a round. I'm assuming Clubs pay a fee to enter the Vase, therefore surely entitled to prize money for advancing even if by default. You could even say that the Club responsible could be expected to pay a fine towards contributing to the prize money.
midlandlilywhite
Good idea VJ but I can't see the powers that be will let it happen.

Richard Rundle
i believe the terms & conditions were changed about 3 or 4 years ago, and teams do now get the prize money when they progress after a walk over (not if they originally draw a bye or are exempt through a certain round)

Just read on SWPL website, Phil Hiscox has stated that the rules were amended a few years ago, so St Austell or Porthleven will receive the prize money despite receiving a bye into the 1st round.
