Or the st day one...Christ!

I must add that I think the standard of this league had increased considerably this season, the relegation and promotion has had a huge impact on this, granted you still have a couple of teams struggling at the bottom but you'll have that in every league no matter what the standard is.

Hopefully more promotion and relegation at the end of this season which will inevitably make the league the strongest it has been in a long time!

Teams wanting to come up from who......carharrack, st buryan, holmans, could west Cornwall with their facilities and pitch?

Culdrose scorers M Clarke and Simon Wilson. Strange game, score was 1.1 after something like 40 secs!! Dissapointing result for the airman who after going 2.1 looked to push on but never took our chances, Perranwell creating chances on the break. Strange referee performance but result was not down to him, however winning goal te player was some 5-10 yards offside, Should really have been picked up.

Agree with the referee performance was strange and such a shame for that young lad who got sent off as he was a cracking little player and having a great game. As for the final goal as the ball was played I was onside and the other striker was off then the defender hit it to which I was in an offside position but if it's the defender who has hit it then can't be offside. Great game both teams battled hard and culdrose gonna be tough to break down this season. Good luck for the season lads

Good response after last week, from Wendron at Newquay, we played some good flowing football in the first half to go in 4-0 up, our goals coming from Matt Rose, Steve Brewer, and Luke Wort 2. A Matt Roberts header in the second half completed the scoring. Newquay keeper was superb yesterday and kept the score to a more respectable level! After a lot of ref bashing in recent times, I must say that Nigel Nicholls was superb yesterday, another good referee that believes in being sensible and talking to players. Thank you to Newquay for the pasties after the game.

Well I certainly got my monies worth from the st day game! Goals galore! X2 poor defensive teams hence the score line, but end to end stuff and good watching for the neutral fan!

I wouldn't say st just were completely outplayed, if this was the case then you'd seen a clean sheet on your behalf ( are you st day management now?! More clubs than tiger woods!), but st day were worthy of the win. Both teams looked a threat going forward, a good little set up at st day, are there plans for an application to go up to the SWPL west if you finish in the correct position? This will be a tall order mind you as from what I have seen you have ludgvan, Wendron and mullion all looking stronger outfits and will finish in higher positions and take promotion.

May be mistaken but I don't think Jamie Thirkle has played for any other side this season and has played the last three or four games for Helston's combination side.

As for Liam, he is a helston lad who the combination side have signed on so are entitled to use him should they wish to. Not the only club to do it.

I saw Illogan's very own Luke Johnson, I think that's his name, play for Holman's seconds side in a 5-4 win which he definitely influenced in Trelawny 3 is it, during the week this week-in fact it was the night before an Illogan first team fixture I believe. So, it happens all the time and will continue to do so until the one club rule or similar is enforced. But clubs can't be blamed for doing something within the rules.

I wasn't their yesterday so can't really comment, but having spoken to the guys they enjoyed playing and testing themselves against the higher league players, that's the reason both illogan teams stepped up and although the silverware may be a wee bit more scarce than in the past, how long can you stay a big fish in a smaller pond. Good luck to blakey and his boys, had some good battles with them in the last couple of years :-)

Great to see Jamie Thirkle back playing regularly. That is the way a club should operate, player returning from long term injury plays for the reserves until back up to challenge for the first team. I also reckon it is great that Liam retains links with the club that were responsible for his development as a player. It shows the strength that Helston now have as a club. Looking forward to the derby for the first time in years v the Airmen!

Illogan 1 - 2 Helston

Tough game at Oxland against a decent Helston side. Helston are a well organised outfit plus handy additions like Eddy when he is available makes them a tough prospect but no complaints here we just get on and play the 11 in front of us and to be fair I felt we kept him quite quiet.

Think Helston maybe just edged the game overall but you would have to say the best chances were ours and we couldshould have scored a couple first half. It was always going to be one of those games that the 1st goal was key and Helston got it even though it was way offside, then the 2nd was a rare mistake by Kurt in the back but we kept going and with only a couple of minutes left we pulled a consolation goal back through Cally with a neat little chip.

All the best to Helston and Blakey for season, good bunch of lads who get on and play the game hard and fair.

Ye Gee with Mikey Davies called up to the first team and Dan Stidwell on holiday it was lucky for Blakey that Liam was available,
