Any News On New Manager At Newquay AFC

Recommended Posts

When a new manager does come in, would the Newquay fans prefer the manager to bring in a new crop of players with experience and possibly higher wages or keep the local crop of players that did well last season such as Bray Evans, Mconie and Barnett?

Whoever is appointed will have to keep the youngsters that have come through in recent seasons, they are the future of the club. A campaign to get the players who won the Rathbone Trophy a couple of years back has already begun, if Newquay can get some of those lads back into the fold, we could be in for an exciting season.

"A campaign to get the players who won the Rathbone Trophy a couple of years back has just begun"

Probably the most bizarre statement I have ever seen on this forum. Supporters campaigning to select players for the new manager who hasn't even arrived yet. I'm not sure any manager thinking of joining Newquay will be too inspired if he reads that. Surely a new manager will arrive with his own views on who to play and how to play and won't want any interference from supporters "campaigns." Is it any wonder that Newquay's second best fc are such a fading force and can't even find a manager with Pre season only a few weeks away. I suspect another long season full of excuses looms ahead for Nemesis.

It is June, players can pick and choose which club they sign for. Perhaps it would be nice for whoever the new manager is to have a decent selection of players to look at in his/her first training session. If supporters and players can entice some lads back to the club, how is that a bad thing ? As for team selection, that would be down to the manager, he/she can bring in players of their choice subject to the limited budget the club can offer, certainly not a matter for supporters or anyone else, although we all have opinions on who should play.

Like England, Newquay supporters have fairly low expectations, we were happy that we scored more goals than Godolphin & Bodmin Town last season, happy we won at Exmouth Town and Witheridge, happy to be in the FA Vase 2014-15... we know we don't have the cash to flash, so lets get some lads in who want to play for the club, not an envelope.

Enjoy the World Cup 'OnTheBall' no doubt Woy will be taking all the advice you give him, and we can celebrate England winning the whole damn thing.

I still think Derek Martin will take over at Newquay and i have heard again quite recently that Bray Evans will be joining Godolphin .I heard Dave osborne Devil is in Treliske hospital i would like to wish him well in his recovery he has done so much for Newquay football club over the years Dave is a good bloke and i hope he is up at mt wise again when the season gets under way , Well i am in remission from my Kidney cancer which is good no more going to hospital 3 times a week for radiotherapy . Looking forward to the new season i think Plymouth Parkway will win the league again if they still have Levi playing for them but if not they will struggle and St Austell are my tip for the league Godolphin will do well again .

Why would derek leave godolphin to join newquay? I appreciate the newquay are what i call an established football club with lots of years in the 80's a succesful team. However on the pitch derek would be taking a step back to join newquay as godolphin finished considerably higher than the peppermints & if memory serves they also dumped them out the cup with ease.

Derek won't go to newquay, do newquay need a Derek Martin without a doubt. This is just like last pre season, no first team manager in place with vinny the reserve manager looking like having to take both teams for pre season training but without the expert knowledge of Jim Hilton who will be a big miss at Mount wise. Pretty sure they start pre season training in just over a week plus they have a friendly to play soon. Sad times at the club, feel for the supporters and players, hope to hear an announcement soon

Hope so mate, but let's face it they have had over half a season to sound people out, as Trevor said he wouldn't stay on after season finished. You would have thought the ground work would have been done then, and an appointment made swiftly, so the club could rebuild for this season.

£50 x 40 games = £2000 non tax! Better get myself down mt.wise tomorrow seeking an application form

Thank you for your application. Unfortunately, the club requires someone who has some knowledge of the game. Your talents fall somewhat short of what is necessary at this level, this despite your promise to bring 14 players with you, the club feels that your 1970's Subutteo team would be off at the sniff of extra bag of Mojo's & Midget Gems.

Even the lure of £50 a game cant get you anyone, must be something wrong to of gone through so many managers in such a short space of time so by the sounds of it you dont need much knowledge! Maybe i better leave that application for your next victim! All joking aside i do think trevor will do one last season?

From a reliable source I have been informed that Newquay AFC have been approached by several candidates who after deliberation have turned down the job and a couple of candidates are still undecided, however with the new season fast approaching and pre season due to start soon the club have appointed Ross Mconie (physio) and Paul Clarke as interim managers With further managerial appointments to be made soon

As the club can't afford to wait for Decisions to be made and because of the timing and the need to keep continuity In the squad for coming season I think Ross is a good choice as he has had roles like this before and I'm sure with a couple more additions newquay could be a great team next season

Today, we won 7-1, it wasn't a first team fixture, it was a mix of 1sts, 2nds and 3rds. Charring had a good team with a few ex Ryman premier league team players in it and to be fair the first 30 mins was a good competitive game at 1-1, then their hangovers kicked from a night on the beer and we went in 5-1 at half time. Superb day and well worthwhile, the visions have sat in our bar for the last two nights and spent a fortune which the club is greatfull for, and hopefully they are coming back next year with a French team they have a connection with so we can make a full weekend of football.
